20G head swap questions.

I have a bone stock '93 SS w/4EAT. I am considering installing some 20G heads/intake mani. I have an SS 5MT w/3.90 LSD that I would love to swap in, but I gave the SS to my wife and she likes the 4EAT at the moment.

If the 20G intake mani is bare, can I swap over the fuel rails, injectors, tb, etc. from a complete 22T intake mani to make it work?

I have a spare 22T block that I have split. I have a tentative plan as follows: Keep the stock 22T crankshaft, replace the 22T rods w/257 rods, replace the pistons with wisecos (super close to stock size), bore and hone the block to fit the wisecos, replace main and rod bearings w/ACLs. Install 20G heads. Swap this into the SS.

I also have an XT tmic, and a td04 that I would like to install.

Will the stock injectors be able to handle this? Will I need coilpacks to make this work?

I would like to use the stock 22T ecu until I can find and purchase a 20G ecu that I can robtune.

Not to be one of these guys but you really need to search, almost all of your questions have previously been answered, some with pretty good step by step posts.

Hi,
Me again...as stated above, all covered on this site, and if you find it yourself, you'll likely find all the related info someone may forget to add.

One gotcha is the fuel rails are different between SOHC and DOHC - pretty sure they're not interchangeable. You can buy the EJ20 rails, which fit the EJ22T injectors, on NASIOC or on Ebay UK...cheap - <$50 shipped last I looked - including injectors.


RE: the XT TMIC- if it's from an '04-05, it won't work (well). You want the newer style. There's a fairly recent post in the IC section I did w/pics .

Thanks everyone for their responses. I have changed my plans and am keeping my wife's SS 22T stock aside from a TD04 and the XT tmic. I'll have to research what year the XT tmic is.

I am now working on figuring out what to do with my spare 22T block that I want to swap into the 95 L. I'm doing a lot of reading and asking a lot of questions. I have an '02 wrx harness and ecu so I may go with 205 heads. Also I am considering using 25D heads.

I have two sets of 22T heads if anyone is interested.
