ej22t turbo upgrade.

Post by turbobug »

I rebuilt my ej22t a few months back. I drove it for a little bit, and decided 163 bhp was not enough. SO I bought me an AEM FIC, some bigger fuel injectors, fuel pump. Other then that everything else is stock... well when I rebuilt the thing I ported and polished the heads, honed the cylinders, the stuff I hope we all would do when rebuilding a motor. So now I want a bigger turbo setup to enhance the increase in fuel the engine is getting. I was thinking of bolting on a dual-stage series turbo type setup. BUT.... I don't know how big these turbos should be. My question is... how big is too big? The goal is to have high boost at any engine rpm, to reduce or eliminate as much turbo lag as possible. (thats why Im not going with just a bigger turbo, or twin turbo setup) Help me go faster!

Is this going into a Legacy or another car?

The TD05-16G turbos are a good compromise between high rpm power and minimal lag. They should be able support 300 hp.

I have a strange feeling that it's going into an old Beetle. ;)
