Illumination Fuse for Gauge

Post by robertpaige »

I'm wondering if I can just shove the 12+ wire in with the #9 fuse for Dash Illumi. and then just run my ground to my amplifier grounding...

So basically, put the wire in the fuse slot, then push the fuse into the slot. Would that work?

I would not go that route its not very safe. Your much better off getting some line taps to add power connections

That is a cool little thing, but i would be scared that something would eventually ground out on it.

I went and picked up a fuse tap. It's a little bit better constructed than the ones above, it seems to be working great!

What are you using this for??

If it's to get illumination for a boost gauge or some other device so it dims with the factory dash lights, you need to run the ground to the illumination system's ground. It has an isolated ground that is NOT the same as the common chassis ground.

I'm using it for a boost gauge. I ran my ground to the ground on my amplifier. I don't care about it dimming with the dash lights, I just wanted it to turn on when I turned on my parking lights/headlights and then turn off when I turn off the car, and it does and works well!

Do you know where that isolated ground is running to? Just a good thing to know..

It runs back to the illumination control unit.
