Strange possible accidental flash?

Post by randomiam »

I figured this warranted its own thread for speculation.

I was testing my Revtronix Stage 2 chip on an extra ECU last night and this morning to see if my MAF or o2 Sensor location were variables in my lean conditions while running the Revtronix chip and

I swapped in my stock EJ22T ECU today after pulling out the Jecs MAF & Revtronix chip & EJ22T ECU-- I think a key factor in this is that I did not reset ecu, and forgot to disconnect battery and my car is boosting beyond 13psi factory fuel cut-- I checked, only once, but my fuel now appears to be 18PSI

Its running pretty well now. I don't know how this happened, or how long it will last.

I'm running a LC-1 Wideband, Cleaned & Flowtested JDM 440cc injectors, TD04 and I've been able to observe a few different baseline tunes to compare this against, AFR wise, and its definitely not running lean.

I'm seeing a good 14-15AFR at idle, and a dip of -10.5-11 under full boost.

So, what the hell did I just do?

I took 'accidental flash' to mean something else completely. (sigh)
Good to hear that your car is running better though.

There is a 3 second delay before fuel cuton the stock ECU. Are you simply boosting above 13 for 3 seconds and hitting 18 in that 3 seconds before fuel cut hits?

This delay is lowered to 1.5 seconds in the RevTronix chip.

Its holding boost above 13 for longer than three seconds, I had to really get on it to hit fuel cut at 18

I've fuel cut enough with the stock setup to verify that its definitely blasting past it easily, now.

You have an MBC set to 18? Or the stock BCS?

IIRC, fuel cut is/was ~19psi on the Rev chip (I'd consider 18 close enough) due to the limit of the MAP sensor.

It's documented on here that the ECU has to 'learn', so maybe the REV's info is temporarily saved somewhere.....if so, then that would mean it can be reprogrammed?

Rob - of Rob Tune fame - could probably shed some light.

I had my manual boost controller set for around 18ish, I never actually tried running the revtronix ecu with the factory BCS.

It either relearned or reset itself yesterday on a drive to Wenatchee.. I had a dead battery that probably also contributed, either way it doesn't seem like the change was permanent.

I'll try and see if I can recreate the setting/whatever it was doing soon
