Duty B Solenoid help
I finally got off my lazy ass and read the transmission codes. I ended up with a code 12. I've read that it controls the torque converter. I knew something was wrong with it because I could always tell when it would lock on the highway due to the slight decrease in engine speed and the decent mileage. Now it doesn't do that anymore and my mileage dropped down to like 10 mpg give or take. So, after searching on here I didn't really find anything. So, is there anyone who can explain to me how to replace it, how hard is it, would it be safe to use a used one and if so are the ones in newer 4EATs work and bolt right in? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Duty B Solenoid help
You need to deterimine whether the solenoid is actually bad or if the wiring is at fault. To replace it I believe you can just drop the trans oil pan and get access to the solenoids. If it's just the solenoid you should be able to get a used one to put in it's place.
If you have an understanding of electrical testing and wrenching, you should be able to do this.

Re: Duty B Solenoid help
Thanks for the help. I really need to fix especially since gas is going to start going up again. So say it is the wiring how would I go about fixing that?Legacy777 wrote:You need to deterimine whether the solenoid is actually bad or if the wiring is at fault. Re: Duty B Solenoid help
It depends where the issue is. If you have bad wiring between the TCU & trans connector (cut wire or something) you can repair the wire if you know where the problem is or you can just run a new wire to bypass the damaged section and splice the new wire into the existing wire at the TCU & trans connector plugs.
Are you familar with a multimeter and checking wire resistances? This is what you need to do to check the wiring.
