hey guys, I'm planning on painting the trim above my windows because its chipping, any suggestions on paint? I'm pretty sure the trim is plastic. I want it to look semi uniform all around without painting the non-chipped trim.

Its metal. I was thinking of painting mine too but I believe on the lower part is chipping and that's flat black so maybe ill plasti-dip it.

The trim is stainless and was never prepped for paint at the factory, that's why almost all of these are flaking. I've painted the trim on my two cars, first stripping the paint with stripper then scotch bright with red pad and putting down self etching primer and painted them black.

90 and 91s also had a semi gloss or flat black on the lower portion of the trim.

How are you guys planning to deal with the rubber on the trim edges? Is your stuff still in good shape?

Does anyone know of a good write up, or any tricks with removing all the trim from our BC's? I am going to paint the car, and I would like to repaint the trim as well, but seperately. I don't want to be snapping clips or bending things etc.!

You need the metal (not plastic they bend and are crap) trim removal tools to get behind the interior trim and pop them off carefully. Its your best bet to minimizing broken tabs but you'll still break some since they're so old.
