I'm using a '92-'94 T-leg ecm in my swap project and need a matching MAF sensor.
I did some research using Autozone's part lookup, looked up the MAF for a T-leg and came up with the Bosch 63111. The application chart shows the same part fitting just about every NA and turbo car. I also used Amazon.com's lookup- it's showing the same 63111 fitting the '98 Outback and a '94 Sport (Sedan)-w- turbo.
What's the deal? Are the replacement MAFs somehow more universal? Are the fitment charts bogus? The shop manual refers to metal bodied MAF sensors on the turbo cars and plastic bodied sensors on the NA cars.
Educate me please!
Nathan

Re: MAF interchange
The interchange charts fail hard. They physically fit and physically plug in, but are NOT compatible. You need the Hitachi metal MAF from a 91-94 turbo Legacy. I think 90 may have used the Hitachi on NAs, but I'm far from sure.

Re: MAF interchange
Thank you, James. Are there any aftermarket suppliers who make correct replacements? Or is it a case of just new OEM or junkyard parts?
Re: MAF interchange
I would just check out the parts shed for a used OEM unit. Its not the type of part I would trust to the aftermarket, but it may work fine.

Re: MAF interchange
The following cars utilized the aluminum bodied Hitachi MAF
90-91 MT non-turbo Legacy
91-94 MT & AT turbo Legacy
I too would recommend trying to get one from a junkyard or from the parts shed.
