Brake/Reverse lights are out..

Post by robertpaige »

My brake lights used to work, but now they don't. Taillights illuminate and blinkers work, but brakes do not come on and neither does my reverse light. I checked for the fuses and relays, what else am I missing? The brake light button underneath the pedal looks fine as well. IS there a connectior that may have gotten unplugged by the rear seat? I can't find anything.. :(

Hmm....they have different power sources in the fuse panel. Have you checked the connector and the bulbs? I'd start there.

Bulbs are fine, where is the connector? Fuse Panel from what I see, everything is fine not blown. I'll have another look.

I meant the connector that plugs into the lamp assembly at the back of the car.

Hmm, well you can d/l the 90 electrical diagrams from me and try and trace the wiring to see where the issue is.

Also, be sure to check the grounds. I had one of my brake lights go out, and it ended up being a crappy ground instead of a bulb being out. That is also the most likely common link between them. Taillights are much dimmer, and thus seem to be able to tolerate a weaker ground than brake lights and reverse lights.

Mine happened to be one of the ring connectors that is screwed into the plastic cover/bulb holder thingy.
