so i tried searching and i couldn't find an answer to my specific question so ill ask it anyway. i have a 94 legacy wagon 2.2 non turbo, i believe the fuel pump has gone out so i need to replace it. when i called my shop he said his book quoted an hour for labor so he figures there is an access panel under the seat, is this right? and if not how much is involved in dropping the tank? any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes there is an access panel under the carpet in the back hatch. 4-5 screws and the plate is off and you have access to the pump. An hour sounds about right.

Hi,
Just to clarify a little..there are the 4 Phillips screws on the access panel and another 8 - 8mm nuts to remove, plus the 3 fuel lines and electrical connector on the top of the fuel pump plate, similar to this on my Forester:

And here's the pump:

Remember! The fuel will be under pressure unless you let the car sit overnight. Search on here to relieve the pressure more quickly.
