Hi everyone. First post on the forum. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge, this forum has taught me so much and saved me big$$$.

So, I'm having my timing belt replaced this week. I feel it is a little above my mechanic ability at this time plus I have a local Subaru mechanic that charges 50 bucks an hour!I bought a kit from ebay that includes the belt, roller, idlers, water pump, front seal, and 4 cam seals. The mechanic is charging me 200 bucks to do the job, really cheap for this part of California. Anyway, is there any recommendations as to other things I should have done while he is doing the timing belt? Things that are easy to do while the timing belt is off? It's a 93 wagon non-turbo with 200K miles on it. What about the oil pump? Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. I want her to go another 200K!

Cheers!

You mention that the timing belt kit has four oil cam seals. I would highly recommend checking whether it's the correct belt/kit because the EJ22 only has two front oil seals and one o-ring on the rear passenger side head.

^ I believe Josh meant to state "...highly recommend CHECKING THAT it's the correct belt....".

The 2.2 is a S(ingle)OHC not the D(ouble)OHC of the 2.5.

I'd also suggest resealing the oil pump. There are 4 screws on the back of it that can come loose and an O-ring to replace. Also, inspect the oil pressure sender - between the P/S pump and Alternator on top of the engine. It commonly leaks - easy and cheap to replace.

Yes, that's what I meant, sorry about that.

Todd, thanks for catching that for me!
