04 sti strut camber question

Iv been reading through all the info about getting the most negative camber with 04 sti struts . Most of the post are quite old now . Has anybody seen or used the whiteline comp 'C' strut tops to gain negative camber?

Just curious if we have more options than the existing "drill out the bottom strut hole " method that jamal did, now that its 7 years later.

I don't have any experience with these, but from the reviews, pictures, and application guide, it looks like they should work.

I have the com-c tops and sti struts. Like the tops, and on the 1st and 2nd gen legacy you end up getting a lot more caster than camber gain:

So they will not fix the alignment problems you get putting on wrx/sti sedan struts. That said, I still highly recommend the tops (and I sell them btw).

The real problem is the clevis tab things stick out farther:

So what happens is that the whole strut shaft wants to be farther in than it should be, so you get some binding in the suspension, even after you have fixed the alignment with bolts or whatever.

I actually heard of a case where a wrx wagon using sedan suspension broke the piston in a rear shock because of this.

Yeah, I did not really notice this until I put really hard poly bushings in all my rear suspension links and suddenly the ride got very harsh. Normally you would just get some extra noise out of the poly but I think that they are causing some extra stiction in the rear struts (which have a problem with that anyway). The handling is still predictable and I love the way the car corners but I am planning to replace the suspension sometime soon.

So, would getting a set of V6 JDM STI struts solve this issue?

Jamal thanks for all the info ! Also would you say that without drilling out the bottom strut holes that the 04 sti suspension on 91 legacy sedan is at risk of failing in an auto cross setting ?

No, I would not worry about them failing, but it's not going to be ideal and you'll need a bunch of extra camber bolts and or to slot the struts to get the alignment where you want. You will get more popping and clunking out of the rear and a little more harsh of a ride, and the sti suspension doesn't ride all that well to begin with. It's fine above like 50 but slow and around town sucks.

i have a complete suspension setup for sale that will bolt directly in and comes with the pu top mounts on all corners if your interested...

My legacy is a designated auto cross car so I'm not so worried about the ride .also not interested in a new suspension just yet. Thanks though ! I'm just slowly trying to build a "bulletproof" autox/rallyx car.
