'93 legacy wagon overheating, resevoir full

While driving to work this morning I notice my temp guage rising on the freeway. As I came to a stop it began to overheat (guage pegged). As soon as I got to 65mph again it cooled a little bit (not pegged but higher than normal), and then overheated again when on the surface streets. Appears that the steam is coming from the overlow resevoir being full, and blowing out the little tube onto the engine. I just replaced timing belt and water pump last month!

What else beside a blown headgsket could cause this :?: (fingers crossed)?

I replaced the thermostat about a year ago, with an AFTERMARKET brand.

Take it out and put an OEM one in there. Aftermarket ones are garbage for these cars.

Could be the radiator cap. I had these fail over a half dozen times over the years...it will puke coolant into the overflow.
