Getting overheating
I've been fighting this problem for weeks now when ever I'm out driving the car gets hot maybe 75% - 80% to the H but if I rev the car above 2k rpm it goes down to normal this all happened after replacing the engine it's a 93 legacy auto wagon the cel is off but does come on randomly when driving but not always ive change the rad cap I've bled it multiple times any thoughts

Re: Getting overheating
What all did you replace when you did the engine? New water pump and thermostat? Did you replace the head gaskets before you put the new engine in? What is the weather like where you are right now? Does it do it with the heater on or off?

Re: Getting overheating
Didn't replace anything came out a perfect running car, it's 37 here does it regardless of heat on or off heat does take awhile to kick get hot, the weird thing is it doesn't really overheat at idle I feel like I can leave it on forever and no overheat but if I drive far it will get hot under 2k Rpms but never goes to the H, I was thinking maybe something clogged the cooling system
Re: Getting overheating
Is the thermostat a oem Subaru one?

Re: Getting overheating
I just picked up a subie with a slow overheating problem for $370. The ONLY thing wrong? Aftermarket thermostat! They are physically smaller than OEM and don't always have the bleeder hole, and are a somewhat common problem in overheating Subarus.

Guilty party on the right.
I would check that first. If it's OEM, then you probably have an air bubble in your coolant system.

Re: Getting overheating
I'll replace it just for up keep and I'll keep this thread updated but by any chance is there any good tips to bleeding it I let it run fill it keep the bleeder screw open till it comes out I play with hoses to try to push any air out. It maybe I'm missing something.
Re: Getting overheating
you can have the car at on an incline so the fill port is the highest spot. Let the car run with the cap off and make sure the fans kick on. That will show the car is getting to around 200 and will mean the thermostat should be open at that point. Continue to squeeze the top hose and make sure the radiator is topped off as well as the over flow tank. The bottom hose should be hot when the fans are on.
Make sure you are monitoring the gauge during this.
