The Subaru Blitzen, a rare automotive commodity.
Blitzen Beckons
Subaru's Blitzen, the ultimate rendition of the Legacy RSK B4, has
landed in New Zealand.
Just five examples of the limited edition model have been imported,
with New Zealand being the only country in the world outside Japan
having access to this special model variant. Four have already been
sold in Auckland and Wellington for $75,000, while the fifth is
remaining on Subaru of New Zealand's fleet, for the time being.
"When we first saw the car at the Tokyo Motor Show last year, some of
the dealers harassed me to import it," said Wallis Dumper, the
General Manager of Subaru of New Zealand.
"I don't know how many were manufactured, but the limited production
run ended in March. Subaru in Japan were reluctant to give us any at
all. They wanted to keep it purely as a domestic model."
The Blitzen is a product of Porsche Design from Germany and has
unique front and rear bumpers, side and rear spoilers and 17 inch
black alloy wheels, set off by the stunning red body colour.
The interior is trimmed with a special upholstery to further
distinguish the Blitzen from the Legacy RSK B4. It is powered by a
205 kWs, twin turbocharged, two-litre engine mated to a five speed
manual gearbox.
"The demand for the one car we have left is unbelievable," said Mr
Dumper. "Several of our dealers have already put in bids."
