Trouble fitting STI 5x100's

Post by subieslayin »

Hey guys! I have a 93 legacy sport sedan, and i recently purchased 04 sti bbs wheels for it. But when i went to put them on, the inside of the tire would rub on the strut.? is this normal? Do i need wheel spacers? Tire size is 225/45/r17

Thanks in advance!

If I recall stock size for the STI is 225/40, yeah you probably need spacers or to go with a slightly smaller tire.

Welcome to the BBS.

Is it hitting the strut tower perch or the side of the strut body? If it's the strut body, a spacer or different size tire would be what you need to do.

225/45 is stock size. Yeah it can be close, especially with older struts. The wrx/sti moved the lower spring perches up to give more clearance. There is not really any extra thread on the wheel studs for much of a spacer, but you might be able to get enough room with a hammer by putting a dent in the perch where it rubs.

Speaking of spacers, anyone ever use the cheap 5mm ones from autozone or the like?
