My game plan is to clean and dye the door cards, remove the inserts (which is a pain in the ass) and wrap them in either leather or alcantara.

The next step was to remove the insert. Being such an old door card the insert is actually glued down, as opposed to being removable like newer vehicles are. For this one I used a heatgun, scraper and a lot of time. Going forward I will use something along the lines of a hacksaw blade or something I can slide under the insert to cut the glue.

I am laying fiberglass over the back of the insert to make it more rigid when I wrap it. I am torn weather to fiberglass the front of it and smooth down, or just wrap over top of the original fabic. Thoughts anyone?
