Put in a va1ref-xg and can't get the axles to fit axles from a 97 legacy

In what way won't they fit? Does the stub not fit into the diff or is it too long, etc? What vehicle did you swap in this diff from? What vehicle did the diff go into? Any more information you can provide would be helpful.

I think it might be a 22 spline diff going to pick up some impreza 22 spline axles and see if they fit can't really think of anything else

Yeah, I'd try different axles. The 93 Diff is supposed to have axle stubs in them. I don't know if the newer axles with male stubs are interchangable or not.

Can you post a picture of the differential, if by chance it's from an impreza it could be one of two types of diffs it could be. Each takes its own specific axle type. I can easily id them on sight. But as long as they axles and diff match there is no reason they shouldn't fit together and swap into a first gen.

I just checked through my fsms, you do in fact have an impreza rear diff, 4.11 ratio, v-type instead of the r160 legacy type diff. You will need impreza rear axles specific to the v-type diff.
