Defect central locking?
Hi! Ever since I bought my Legacy 93 Sedan the central locking hasn't worked. The main key for the car has a gray button on it and when I press it a green light shines.. I don't know if that's a key less opener, but anyways.. I've checked all the fuses and they are good, but still no locking. Sometimes when the door is locked and I try to open it something beeps.. Like a small happy beep.. What is that? :O
Re: Defect central locking?
If you have an L or above, the central locking is controlled from the driver's lock switch. When you lock or unlock that door, tho other doors are supposed to lock or unlock as well. There's no keyless entry, the green light is just for finding the keyhole in the dark.

What do you mean L or above? And dammit.. Was hoping for a keyless entry ( The car has everythings else that's up to modern standards, why not keyless haha..Alphius wrote:If you have an L or above, the central locking is controlled from the driver's lock switch. L and above meaning any trim L and higher IE: LS, LSi, SS, etc.
I put an aftermarket keyless entry on my Legacy. Works pretty well.

Ah okay, but keyless isn't that big of a deal, but wanting the central locking is haha.. I have a fuse for central locking and that's not it Something else I should look at? Maybe the driver door lock is bad..robertpaige wrote:L and above meaning any trim L and higher IE: LS, LSi, SS, etc.

Re: Defect central locking?
Do you know what model of car you have?
As robertpaige mentioned, only certain model levels had the central door locks.
If you wanted power locks and you don't currently have them, you could buy this kit:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Door-Power-Ce ... GC&vxp=mtr
This will make you have power locks and keyless entry.
I have a central locking system, so I just needed to install a actuator in the drivers door, along with the keyless system.
It's extremely cheap to do. I have about $25 into mine, because I also have the keyless trunk.
I have this brain:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Car-C ... xU&vxp=mtr
And 2 of these actuators (one in the drivers door, another in the trunk):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Safety-2-Wire-C ... 2Q&vxp=mtr
You can see it working here:

I also hooked it up to the lights, and the old siren from the alarm it use to have. I have since bought a beeper, so it's not so annoying as the siren:

Re: Defect central locking?
Almost all Legacies had central locking. You should confirm what model/trim you have. If you don't know or can't find out, you can use this to decode your VIN.
