1 or 2 problems?

So I had the car up on jacks today. I started the car and put it in first. The rear end was making a knocking sound and the right front was not spinning. When I drive the car pulls hard to the left especially starting from a stop. I know it needs a clutch. I recently took it off road hard.

Is it normal for only one front to spin when the car is in the air. Could it be a problem with the half shaft?

It is normal for only one front to spin. The car has an open front diff.

If there's more resistance on one side or the other, that side will stop and the other will spin. If the resistance is equal, both will spin. You should be able to stop or slow down any spinning wheel and the opposite side should start spinning or speed up. If not, there's some other problem.

The knocking was mud on the wheel. Could I have an lsd?

Unless it's a 91 turbo probably not, unless someone else put a lsd in. If you look at the tag on the rear diff it will say vlsd if the tag is still there.

I would spin the right tire and see if the other tire spins the opposite direction. If it doesn't I would grab the axle as close to the transmission and have someone spin the wheel to and see if the axle is bad.
