Boost control merge

Post by poonhandler »

Whats up guys, kind of a long one here but anyways, bought a totaled ss and swapped everything into my current car, the donor ss was an automatic but the kid i bought the car from already swapped a 5sp into ot, long story short i get everything back together and pieces of the bulk head have been spliced into, somehow a wire fried and now my check engine light wont come on when i turn the ignition on. Thanks to (dankberries) i found another bulk head harness in colorado springs and is also an automatic harness and some wires have been cut, basically what im wondering is if i can go get a manual bulk head harness out of a manual ls or something and basically take both apart and combine the boost control connectors into the manual harness because thats the only thing different between the 2. Plus itd be easier to get around bypassing the clutch switch and the otherez that tie into it like the starter interlock and reverse lights. Any input would be great.
Note: have a 92 L and swapped every single wire from my 93 ss donar car. Ecu, dash and everything

What exactly has been cut? You could possibly only need to replace a couple wires.

If the check engine is not on, that likely meens the ECU does not have power.

It would be possible to use a Naturally aspirated harness and add boost related sensor wires but honestly thats more work than potentially just replacing a couple wires.

Making an Auto harness work for Manual is rather easy. Definitely some write up's on how to do that.

If you are unsure of what the wires that have been cut function for, can you take pictures and/or fallow them to there respective spot for clarity?

No but I'm pretty sure I know the car and at least 3 different owners.

It had STI decals on the passenger and driver doors but anyways it had two prongs in the bulkhead harness that were spliced into another wire and omehow my friend hooked up one of them into a power wire and he grounded it out and it fried when we tried to turn the ignition on and now my check engine light wont come on after that so now I got the new bulkhead harness from the junkyard with some tranny plug wires cut

Given you are not using an Auto transmission you should not need anything in relation other than the reverse lights.

I would be concerned that something may have happened to the ECU.
Also be wary of where the clipped wires are, that nothing grounds from wire ends touching.

Have you tried turning it on with the new harness?

I haven't got to put the new harness on yet and I tried my other two ECU's and same thing so I'm hoping my ECU is good

You also have the neutral switch on the MT that you need to wire up and you'll use the AT's neutral switch wiring.
