So.. I have a perfect jdm ej25d na dohc complete.
the plans:
ej22t crankshaft (#3 thrust)
ej257 rods, pistons, rings)
ej257 head gaskets
2011 sti windage tray, pickup, pump
2003 ej205 waterpump
jdm ej207 turbo intake manifold
from everywhere I have read a ej22t with #3 will drop in, or a newer ej257 oe ej253 crank E#5 thrust with block machined to accept, the pistons are a perfect fit, cylinders all nice and round. rods I already know fit the ej22e and t crank. anyone see any holes in my plan? the ej25d has proven its worth to north of 400hp boosted. I plan on being under that 350 would be plenty.

Re: 2.5 engine questions
Using the ej18/20/22 crank would make it a destroked build, and youd theoretically end up around 2.35L. From my understanding, the stock pistons wont work in that scenario, not due to fitment, but due to how far (less) they travel with that crank.
Imho you should use an ej255/7 crank with that setup. Destroker pistons are $$$.

Thanks very much! I forgot about the 75 vs 79mm , ok quick change of plans ej251 block , sti everything internally, both #5 thrust position. I believe theres no question everything will work. I'm glad I posted before I got too carried away
