So I have a 92 Sedan which I recently did a gearbox change on. So now there is a completely new clutch package on the car and all. BUT. When I downshift and release the clutch quite harshly there is this strange clunking. It never happens while driving normally and it gets less aggressive when the car is at operating temp.
Can you describe the clunking noise? Does it sound more like a gear or hollow metal sounding? I ask because it's probably that the exhaust or that something is not exactly in place after the gearbox change. So when downshifting aggressively the transmission is moving more than normal and making contact with something.
My recommendation would be to jack up the car and take a look underneath.
It sounds a lot like the noise comes from the driveline. Do you think it might be because of the fact that the push bearing is sitting on a very worn rod?
