92 taillamps

Just been thinking

, the tailamps on the 92's have a clear lens with an amber bulb, yet this was changed for 93/94. Anybody know why?
I believe the overall design is still the same isn't it? So one could go about collecting some from a salvage yard and connect them to a later year legacy. I wouldn't think it would be to hard to find a set either, seeing that all trim levels iirc were equipped with them in 92.
Has anyone done this or given it any thought. I think it just looks cleaner with the orange lacking.
or is it just my imagination

i swear ive seen some us spec legacys with them tho!

Not sure you have the right years. 90-91 have a clear bulb but an orange plastic piece in there. Without disassembling the light you really can't get it out.
The 92-94 models I believe have the orange light instead.

ok perhaps i wasnt being clear.
i own a 93 legacy.
I would like to put on the 92 taillamps. Im questioning whether the only difference between the years is the fact that the 92s have a clear lens.
so they should hypothetically fit on a 93/94 legacy.
i just wanted to check with you guys becuase im baffled on why they would make this change.

Oh yeah , I never noticed that. the 92 also doesn't have those lines where the amber bulb is. I like that better. I don't see why they would not interchange. but I will find out.

Sorry,
I misunderstood you. yeah, the 92 & 93-94 models should be interchangeable.
Just curious though.....did you take those two pictures of the rear tail lenses?
I just checked the parts sheet.....they definitely do list a different part #'s for the 92......bizzare.....

Just a clairification with the 92 tail lights they still use a clear bulb but have an orange insert behind the clear portion of the lens snaps in kinda like a lego peice so it should be easy removal if the housings are not on the car.

Homeslice,
So you installed the JDM auto climate control.
Was it a direct plug in? Easy to do?
Thanks

only if you already have the digital climate in from the factory. thing that sucks is the us only got it on the 90-91 lsi's. so i got to change all the wiring and hookup the vacum modules to work corect. im trying to locate the wiring and heater box from a lsi so i could hook mine up. the unit gets power but the temp control does not work. once i figure it out i will post the parts you need. i am waiting to do the install when i change out my L interior for the turbo interior. i will already have the dash down to nothing and i can access the climate control more easy.

That was my thought - the temp that runs off a cable would not work, does the rest plug in?
Looks really good though!
