5spd problem

Post by dr_chunks@yahoo.com »

On my 93 legacy turbo, just starting today, whenever the engine
exceeds about 3000 rpms, it seems like the the transmission pops out
of gear (the engine revs up like its been put into neutral) but the
gear lever is still in gear. I have made sure to put the lever all
the way into gear. This happens in every gear. It drives normally
until aobut 3 grand, and whoooosh, the engine rpms shoot up, check
the lever..still in gear, let off the gas and it catches in gear back
at 3000. I dont know what is going wrong or what caused this. The
clutch has about 5000 miles on it, so it is new, and this has never
happened before. I just drove it home today keeping it under 3000.
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks

5spd problem

Sounds like the clutch to me! Maybe it wasn't installed properly or hydraulic
system needs bleeding. The peak torque on the car hits at 2800 rpm which
would put a lot of pressure on the clutch to hold. I remember when my clutch
went it would always start slipping at 3000 also! It's gotta be the clutch!

Thanks

I am also guessing its the clutch and nothing eles major. That is
just the thing, I have no idea what kind of clutch it is or who
installed it. The clutch was replaced just a few thousand miles
before I bought the car used a while back. Will find out Friday
hopefully.
