Oil pan gasket?

I did this when I had my motor out of the car, no gasket though, just high temp, oil resistant, silicone sealent. To do it in the car, I am sure you do have to remove the crossbar, I know they cover it in the Hayne's manual if you have one. John

I'm about to do my oil pan gasket.... Does anyone who has done this know if there is any way to do this without using an engine hoist?

Alright.... I figured out how to raise then engine without a hoist... I used a jack and a block of wood to jack up the transmission. Then, I put a block of wood underneath each engine mount and lowered the jack but left it half supporting the transmission to be safe.

Although it was tight, I had enough room to fit my average sized fingers in the back with a U-joint socket

Everything is put back together now...I'm just waiting 24 hours for the gasket to dry, after which I will start the car and hope that it doesn't leak!

EDIT: She's back up and running.... but I will need at least a week to see if it leaks...I hope not

Was reading through this and thought I'd post. It is possible...although a pain in the nack...to remove the oil pan without raising the engine. A small swivel joint and long extension (if not two) are needed to get to those pesky rear bolts. You can use the small holes in the cross member to see what you are doing and long 'L' shaped needle nose pliers to help positioning.
