turbo replacment

Post by subaruracer755@cs.com »

i think its about time, i just got my new (sorta! its damn close!) turbo from senor fullerton over in the UK (im so jealous, your cars over there kick ass). and i am going to replace my turbo with that TD04. now from looking at it there are (turbine exhaust side) two studs on the bottom and the top three holes are bolt and nut fasteners. i will order those cause ill probally beat the crap outa them to remove them. but heres the question i have:

who has replaced their turbo, and any hints, tricks you have found?
are the connections to the downpipe studs or nut/bolts? i know i gotta replace the oil out hose jsut cause its the smart thing to do. any other tips and or hints? i have all the neccassary tools, as im a boat mechanic by day (batman by night!). any info would be helpful!

turbo replacment

The uppipe has all studs if I remember right. Subaru has special nuts
to hold this together they are not supposed to seize and will be
removable in the future. I used a piece of silicone hose for the oil
return because I don't think it is replaceable without removing the
turbo if it should go bad.
