My sunroof has given me a variety of grief for years.
It had to be removed and resealed at about four years of age.
Mine would always open, then it would sometimes balk at closing and require a wait and a prayer to get it to close. Changing the switch made no difference.
There is a sunroof control module right above the head of the right side rear passenger. It is about the size of a VHS tape split lengthwise, or about the size of two packs of king size smokes end to end. You can access it by dropping the corner of the headliner. Be careful not to ding the edge of your headliner (as I did). You will need a really really stubby phillips screwdriver to break the screws loose, then just use your fingers. I had to buy an entire sunroof for $200 to get my relay, but it instantly cured the problem. I think one fron a dealer costs around $350. The bad news is that after about a year, it is doing the same damn thing.
When your headliner is out, never miss an opportunity to minimize the potential for rattles, using duct tape, silicone sealer, Marine Goop, and scraps of foam rubber on all wires and anything than can rattle.
Love as always
