a few questions I thought of..

I'm not too sure, but I think it's referred to as open
'deck'. I've been told by my mechanic friend this as
well as a few others. I could be WAYYY off though.

I think the 2.2L turbo is probably the best turbo
engine that Subaru has imported. It's closed deck,
which AFAIK acts like a heat sink so you can increase
boost/internal temps and still be super reliable.
Someone correct me if I'm way off please. The H6 is a
much heavier engine, which adds a bunch of weight to
an area that really doesn't need any more.

I also had a few questions that you guys could
probably answer.

-What does the battery light on the dash indicate?
I'm assuming something about the battery and the power
level. I'll be reading my Haynes manual today, so I
may answer it myself, but I always value the opinions
on here much more.

-Before we do this exhaust GB, I want to do some tests
on my engine to make sure it's operating properly.
What test should I do or have done to check this?

Thanks a lot.

-Brian

couple comments.

The closed deck design is mainly beneficial because the strength of it. You have more material around the cylinder which will handle more forces and higher boost. The open deck design is ALOT cheaper to produce when they cast the block. The closed deck blocks require more extensive casting setup and such.

The new H6 really isn't much bigger then the H4. I think it's only about an inch or so longer....may be a little heavier...but not by much I think.

The battery light is an indication of a malfunction in the charging system. I would suspect either your alternator or battery is on the fritz, and needs replacing....or possibly both.
