clutch pedal fix

Post by PJHARJ »

The goofy spring assist thing is attached to the pedal and to a point on the
firewall via pins with push retainers, snap these off and slip the pins out
* carfully * as it will still be under tension. I used aa extension spring
of undetermined origin approximately 2-1/2" long. I attached it to the
clutch pedal using the hole created by the removal of the afforementioned
spring assist thingy. The other end is attached to the hole that formerly
held the plastic clutch pedal "stop", it is a small square shaped piece.
You could use a carrage bolt in this hole with a couple of nuts to keep the
spring from coming off.

I may go with a bit stiffer spring but otherwise it works great, the
biggest differance is the feeling by removing that goofy spring thing - very
good feedback and feeling of the clutch itself, not to mention the pedal
actually returns by itself now!
