cd player

Post by Nissan-Subaru »

I just bought a new cd player for my car and was
wondering if there is anything special about
installing it into a Subaru. It will be here around
Thursday. Anyone have any part numbers on bezel kits
and wiring harnesses?

John,

No there really isn't anything special you need. Check out my site www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/subaru.html I have pics of my stereo install.

Go to circuit city or some other place and get a wiring harness so you can just plug into the existing stereo wiring. As far as any other kits. You really don't need anything. All you really need is a trim piece, which again you could get at circuit city, to fill the space left below the radio and the pocket. Other option is to get the fat pocket, but I think it looks stupid ;)

To get the stereo out/in. Remove the cupholder, unscrew two screws on either side. Pull out ash tray, push shift lock button, and move lever back so you can work on things easier. Use a stubby phillips screw driver and there are two screws screwed up in the dash. When you have those off, you can remove the plastic trim piece. Next there is one screw in the back where the ash tray was....you don't have to unscrew it all the way, and you can take out the mount that the ash tray. There is connector that is held on to the bracket, disconnect it, and carefully remove it. The black plastic tray area is easily scratched. Once you get that out, there is 4 screws around the edges and two that are sunk back in that hold it to the frame. Once you get those out, you can remove the stereo frame. It's pretty easy.

Got any questions, just holler.

Josh
