I also had a problem with my car, the rpm would drop to just about nothing
and it would want to stall when I took it out of gear and into neutral (man
trans) when going down the road or comming up to a stop. It was happening
irradically, along with the OBD giving me a code 35, purge control solenoid
valve. I read online that the computer will give this code not because the
purge valve was bad but because the fuel filter is old and getting clogged,
causing the OBD to pick up the problem in the purge solenoid. I replaced
the fuel filter and after a day of driving and clearing the codes and the
problem was solved. Before you spend any real cash on replacing the
solenoid, buck up for a fuel filter, if it works, great, if not, you at
least have a new fuel filter, bonus. Hope this helps, john k

Purge Solenoid Vavle
Did some more looking into this. If you need it, here is the Subaru part
number for the purge valve, not the canister, 14774AA350, subaruparts.com
has them for around 60 bucks. It is located on the underside of the intake,
on the left of the coil pack (when looking at the motor from the front of
the car), you can see it between the two down-pipes going to the head.
Heard it's a bitch to get to. Also, the turbos have two solenoid valves,
the main one and an auxillary. Good luck, john
