93 Legacy camshaft swapability

Just inquiring whether or not any of the later phase sohc camshafts would work in the Legacy heads in my 93 wagon. I've been running my NA frankenmotor for over a year (2.5 block/stock NA Legacy heads/.040 cometic) and pulled it to change out the clutch among other things. I have a bunch of spare st...

Re: GD 2.5 into 93 Leg wagon (L)

I guess the main thing I really want to do is use the 2.5 short block, simple enough. I was hoping though, if possible, to use different heads given the small size of the valves in the older 2.2 heads. I'll use the stockers if I have to (given they will even mate to the 2.5 block), but was wondering...

Re: GD 2.5 into 93 Leg wagon (L)

Thanks Josh. Just to clarify, I'm not intending to use the whole long block per se, just what I can in regards to the block and heads. I plan on using the crank/cam gear/ sensors etc from the Legacy. I'm wondering if the stock ej22 injectors would be able to fuel the 2.5... whether it's just the blo...

GD 2.5 into 93 Leg wagon (L)

I am looking to see what I'm getting into here with a small swap. By small I mean not looking for any huge gains, only to "perk" things up a little considering I have a sohc GD 2.5 (2002 I think) long block at my disposal. It will need rebuilt but I'd like to use the heads along with the b...

Contemplating N/A 2.5 swap into 93 Leg

Researching right now about which direction to take on doing this swap. I am rebuilding an NA ej25 shortblock from a 98 RS and have a couple options. Just throwing this out there in case others who have done something similar can give their input and/or experiences ahead of time. My 93 wagon is for ...

Sold! Thanks.

I also have a set for ej25, minus one compression and scraper ring (ie set of three). If someone is hard up. $20 shipped. Top ring and second ring are same thickness as the EJ22s, but the oil ring is a bit smaller. These are NPR as well.

CP's - they use the same "thickness" as oem, just larger bore of course. I'm waiting to hear from them, just searching other avenues as well.

WTB ej22 .040 over piston rings.....

Not an easy task to find a set of these, if at all possible. I contacted my piston manufacturer but thought I'd throw this up just in case somebody knows where to go, or happened to have something availible.

Thanks,

Matt

ej22 piston rings

I bought a brand new set of standard ej22 piston rings in error off of ebay. The package has been opened, but the rings are unused. These are the NPR rings you usually see. They were 50 shipped, will send them out $40 shipped.

Thanks everyone for your responses/PM's. I think I bit off more than I can chew, lol. I should have done more research on the current value, I didn't realize just the halves are in such high demand (although It's obvious why). Damon, my car sits more than it runs, it's been an electrical nightmare a...

WTB: ej22 block halves

I'm looking for set of 2.2 block halves to build on. Obviously I would prefer the closed deck but I know it's not as easy to obtain these days. I would settle for any ol' ej22e as well. Not looking for anything other than the halves themselves....other than maybe a crank but it's not priority right ...

Differences: Head Gaskets

Can anyone set me straight on head gaskets regarding part no. vs issue? I am trying to buy the thicker (1.52 mm?) one with the multi layer steel. I originally bought part 11044aa282 which is labeled as 91-94 Legacy turbo (subarugenuineparts). When I recieved it I found that is was the composite styl...

Re: EJ20G heads + ej22e block=?

I know folks always put EJ20G heads on a ej22t block for a DOHC 2.2 hybird, but the CR is really low with that set-up - Low 7's:1. I just parted out a EJ20G & have a complete DOHC conversion + a complete EJ20G intake lying around right next to a complete ej22e shortblock. I was wondering how th...

You really don't want pressure higher then what they're doing. Any higher and you're going to blow out oil seals. Yeah, that's the whole reason why I started tracking down this info. I was seeing quite a bit of oil in my intake that seemed to get by the catch can altogether. I was worried maybe tha...
