I've been out of town most of the winter/spring and haven't pursued selling (or upgrading) the legacy. It's still for sale and I lowered the price to $1800 without the WRX wheels. Still open to offers.

Yeah, the struts were shot on mine when I bought it. It's not too tough or expensive to update to WRX and that's what I did. Now it rides really solid. I got all the info from the sticky in the suspension forum here on Legacycentral. I forgot to mention, it also has new CV boots.

You might also try posting on www.stlsubaru.com. The vibe there is a little different, but someone might be interested.

I don't know who this guy is or what he's talking about! Just kidding. I thought I'd chime in and thank the guys here on the board for posting tons of useful info. "Ultrasonic" and I have done both our cars' suspension systems after researching here. I'll let Steve give everyone the update...

Sure enough, the tensioner went bad. I replaced it and all the belts and it started up right away. Runs great.

I just bought the Legacy in June so....... I haven't taken out the tensioner so I'm not exactly sure if it or the pulleys are working correctly other than looking at the belt. (the belt looks almost new) Is there a way to check the tensioner? Or, when this happens, should it be replaced? Thanks. Gabe

Confirmed. My timing is WAY off. How did this happen? I was driving about 35 or 40 and not doing any extreme acceleration.

Can anyone chime in to let me know how this happened and what I need to do (while it's apart) to make sure it doesn't happen again? Thanks.

Is it possible for the timing to change if the belt isn't broken?

Spark + Fuel + Air + Timing Belt = No Go

Tonight, I was leaving home and my '91 SS stopped running about two blocks down the road. I thought it ran out of gas (because my gas gauge doesn't work) but I put a couple gallons of fuel in and it still didn't start. All the lights come on like normal, it cranks like normal, and doesn't start. It ...

I should have been more specific. I was proposing WRX stuts, with Legacy springs, upper spring perches, and top mounts. Lots of people post about using the WRX struts and springs. I'm yet to find a thread about using the stock springs. No big deal. Anyway, I decided to put them on to see what happen...

Re-read my original post. I'm not asking if the pieces will fit together. I'm not asking for the spring rate. I know that already!

Give me a break.

Does anyone else have some real results so this thread doesn't end up on someone else's search with no actual new information?

WRX struts/stock springs?

Are there any known issues with using the stock rear springs/top mounts with WRX rear struts in my '91 turbo Legacy?
