Well can you believ it - I finally managed to sort this out. I unearthed the wires ging into the computer and simply pushed a few of them around and, hey presto, CE light no longer comes on! (other than during initial start up) I am still not convinced that the solenoid valve is operating though, as...

speed signal effect on engine idle
Hey guys - my 94 liberty (NA) has had a longstanding problem with the speedo reading dropping out from time to time. When this happens the cruise control becomes inoperative and the engine struggles to idle without cutting out. I can live with that - just about as the speedo cuts back in after a few...

engine dying - fuel starvation?
Yesterday I was out on my 94 NA liberty and ha driven about a mile (engine already hot on a hot day and AC running on full) and was accelerating uphill when the engine started to cough and splutter then just gave up. It felt like fuel starvation as it was a gradual dying process - not like something...

cannister purge control solenoid questions
I am still trying to get this stubborn solenoid to work so that the CE light can be finally turned off. There is no power showing in to the solenoid so it must be either faulty wiring or control module. Any ideas on how to fix this? If it is the wiring can I slave a new wire into the control module;...

side light fuse position
Can anyone confirm exactly which fuse is the one for the side/position lights and which fuse box it is in on my 94 legacy. The handbook seeems to be somewhat vague on this! All front and rear side lights are not working so I am hoping it is just the fuse.

faulty speed sensor?
My speedometer will sometimes not work - but usually only for short periods - and whilst it is not working the cruise control will drop out. I am assuming that it is a speed sensor which is cutting in and out. Has anyone had experience of this sort of intermittant fault before and know whether it is...

This all sounds like a very familiar story to me. My 95 wagon would always start from cold and occasionally would stall at idle (but always start straight back up again). The problem wouyld was when you switched off and left it for 10-15 minutes - then she would crank just fine but no spark. This pr...

Yea Josh the CEL is on continuously. I have downloaded the wiring harness checks from the manual on this website but haven't done them yet (heavy weekend!) so will get round to it later this week. I have removed the pipe which goes to the inlet manifold and it does not seem to be sucking so I am gue...

Operose, Hope you have managed to retrieve your car - or get it going. The symptoms on mine were somewhat different to yours; mine would always start and run from cold perfectly; it was only when it had been running for a while and you stopped at the shops for 10 mins or so then there was just no sp...

Purge control solenoid
Josh, Yes my mechanic said he had wiped the error codes at least three times and it (code 35) came back each time. I hadn't tried doing this myself since I never had any error codes showing - it was my mechanic that discovered someone had previously removed the 'Check Engine' globe in the dash; obvi...

purge control solenoid
Hi guys, I have an almost identical problem on my 95 wagon. My mechanic has tried two brand new solenoids from Subaru and they did not clear the code so he has given up. It seems to me that it could well be a wiring harness problem - how exactly do I test this and if it is faulty how easy is it to r...

Possible Coil Defect
I agree it doesn't sound like a coil problem. I had a similar suspicion about the (Diamond)coil on my 95 wagon a couple of months ago and the secondary resistance readings came up about the same as yours - i.e. about twice what the Haynes manual states. I bought a brand new one ($215 Australian) onl...
