Re: Looking for ECU Pins (not pinout diagram)

*disclaimer* I have not actually ordered these yet, but my research indicates that they are the proper pins. The ECU connector is made by AMP. They are now TE Connectivity. The connector is part of the TE Multilock series. That can be Googled and TEs website had lots of documentation to peruse. The ...

Re: Looking for 91 Legacy Wiring Diagrams (Rear Wiper)

Something is not right in that diagram.

There doesn't seem to be a wire for the "variable" part. Usually there is a dedicate wire to a variable resistor that controls the time delay.

The intermittent does have a dedicated wire to activate it, so I guess it could perform both functions.....

Re: Automatic climate control, info and installation

The above is for the mode/mix doors. The difference I found is in the intake doors. The automatic system has a 20 percent fresh/80 percent recycled position that the pushbutton system doesn't. I haven't taken the intake door motors apart yet to look for differences. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapat...

Re: Automatic climate control, info and installation

I've disassembled the three under dash units and have started cleaning and restoring the components. I can verify that the air intake/blower housings are the same between auto and manual systems. I can also verify that the main heater/distribution housing is the same also. I cannot say 100% yet that...

Re: Automatic climate control, info and installation

Had a bit of spare time at work today ("It's good to be the boss"). Disassembled and cleaned the control unit. A few notes: The lights have blue caps and the light runners appear to be clear. I wonder what color the lettering appears to be on the unit - blue or green? The temp up-down rock...

The 4 pot/2 pot brake conversion and the wide-track conversion are completely separate. They do not involve the same parts. Brake conversion: Front: 4 pot calipers, 4 pot pads, 2002-2007 WRX rotors (2 or 4 pot are the same). Rear: 2 pot calipers, 2 pot pads, 2006-2007 WRX rotors, either (A)Kartboy c...

Re: Automatic climate control, info and installation

While the control panel is the most obvious change, there are many major and minor changes to the actual HVAC parts under the dash. The under-dash ductwork is actually three seperate parts. The first part is the air intake and fan, marked as 1. The second part is the AC evaporator. All air passes th...

Re: Automatic climate control, info and installation

This is called a Sun Load Sensor. It is used to let the control unit estimate the heat gain from the sun shining on all the windows. It replaces the leftmost trim piece at the end of the windshield defroster duct - the one that covers the dashboard mounting bolt: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3893/...

Automatic climate control, info and installation

OK, this is it. What we all have been wondering. Can the rare, yet intriguing, electronically controlled automatic air conditioning system be retrofitted to a Legacy that is not so equipped? I'm certain the answer is yes, but I'm not sure how smooth the road is. Let's start with an introduction of t...

Re: Idle switch function, can it be emulated?

Google for nitrous oxide (NOS) throttle switches. That should give you ideas on how to mount an external idle switch. Depending on the static resistance through the TPS, the 20H TPS might pull too much or too little current through the circuit, but I would think that's unlikely. If your an electroni...

Re: Alternative intercooler locations?

If your concerned with length of piping (lag) and heatsoak I have two ideas for you.

1) Convert to the early Legacy air-water intercooler setup.

2) Mount a fan to the traditional Subaru top-mount intercooler.

Re: EJ22T hybrid build

That is a '92-'96 EJ20G STI (if the red is OEM) manifold. It is the same as a regular '92-'96 WRX intake manifold in every way other than the red paint. It should take a EJ22T throttlebody with zero issues. It will bolt to the EJ25d heads without issues. The EJ25d intake ports are slightly smaller t...

Re: EJ22T hybrid build

The throttle body issue is with EJ20k under-the-manifold-turbo-inlet manifolds. (The 'late' EJ20g like Kimo's is basically an EJ20k with HLA heads.)

Re: EJ22T hybrid build

IIRC, the new shape oil pan was introduced for cars with a twin scroll turbo. It was the twin scroll exhaust that didn't clear the old pan. The EJ255/EJ257 got the new pan, even though they didn't get the Twin scroll. Yes, if you use all the parts together, you can use the '09 pan. Just don't mix th...

Re: How's this ej20g??

You will need to check the final drive ratio, as it may not be the same as yours. If it is different, then you will need a matching rear differential. The engine looks fine, and is easy to install in our early Legacies. You should only need a turbo front crossmember and a turbo exhaust. GC8 WRX part...

Re: EJ22T Hybrid head gasket questions

Nobody really wants to hear this. Maybe they are looking for a silver bullet or something? However, there are really only two options. 1. Use stock pistons and EJ22T gaskets and deal with the low compression. This leaves the quench at OEM specs. Read some old posts. The few folks who have done it re...

Re: Spencer's Legacy Turbo *New Pics Page 17*

350-400whp ideally. I'll go with 350HP for now. So that means stock block and crank (reground OK), any quality forged pistons, any quality rod upgrade, MLS type head gaskets, minor head porting (on EJ20g heads, EJ20K heads might be OK), slightly bigger than TD05-16G turbo, 550 injectors, slightly l...

Re: Spencer's Legacy Turbo *New Pics Page 17*

Power goal first, then work backwards. That will tell you exactly what components you need and where you can save a few bucks. Your power goals will also play a part in choosing clearances. For a motor with the exact same hardware, 300HP can be built with virtually OEM clearances and OEM longevity. ...

Re: Best bang for the buck build on ej22t

EJ251/253 are phase 2 SOHC heads. The factory up-pipe does not fir them. EJ25D/EJ20G are phase 1 DOHC heads. The factory exhaust fits fine. EJ20G is the non-USA 2.0 turbo motor the WRX built it's name with. The EJ25D is the '96-'99 N/A 2.5 motor from the Legacy/Forester/Outback/2.5RS. They are basic...
