I've heard but cannot verify that a skid plate from another legacy or impreza will work but you'll just need to re-drill some relocated mounting holes. Myself, I went to a alluminum supplier and bought a sheet of 1/8" alluminum which I'll fab my own skid plate. I've just approximated the basic ...

For bang for the buck I recomend the Hella 500's either fog or driving light patterns. About $75 for the pair. Mounting methods are up to you.

If by "normal tires" you mean "summer only" and not all-seasons it would not be recomended in any way shape or form. Summer tires get really hard in lower temps and have little grip even on dry pavement. The compound in all season tires will still be able to grip in colder tempra...

I suggest making weekly visits until someting comes up.

The cable that goes to the mentioned flap can be easily found just underneath the glovebox. On the very left hand side of the glove box door just an few inches towards the front of the car is where tha cable attaches, if you move the control slider back and forth you should easily see and feel the c...

Flush the reservoir of stuff labeled power steering fluid. The Subaru pumps specify right on the cap to use a dextron ATF fluid. this may quiet your pump. I used the spiffy synthetic stuff in my $20 junkyard replacement pump and it's quiet as can be. Nifty Hint: an old sprayer from degreaser or wind...

Dual range in a Legacy

So over in yonder parts of the globe one can get a Dual range Legacy. I'd love to have that setup, including all the associated interior trim bits. Anyone know where these were available the closest or easiest to obtain? Were they available in Canada? Would a Loyale/GL Dual range work in a 1st gen L...

To echo a previous thread, the "I love BJ's" tee would be the best and probably have a much better chance of being bought even by those that don't have said wagon... a few minor adjustments to the current wagon artwork would get the job done, so to speak. Happy endings for everyone?

Though probably not what you're after I have Outback Leather seats in my 90 with the height adjust. I didn't do the swap but is the height adjuster seat base interchangeable with another base? I had badd connections at the battery terminal ends causing similar problems, both pos and neg were looser than they should be. Replaced the terminal ends, battery started actually getting charged properly, radio didn't cut out, seatbelts move faster etc. Even if your battery or alternator turn out ...

$335 shipped from TireRack for KYB Gr-2's oddly enough cheaper than the 90 Legacy AWD part #'s for KYB.

As for pics, I hope to have some posting soon, as for the lights and other accesories, those will have to wait, now my other vehicles need a bit of lovin too.

The most common problem is that when a roll over occurs and the engine continues to run even briefly the oil pick up can become uncovered and starve oil to critical parts. My wagon was rolled on it's side into a ditch and this killed the original motor. Sometimes oil and other fluids can flow into p...

Ok so I finally got a day to get my strut swap done. 98 outback KYB GR-2's on a 90 Legacy wagon. 1.25" lift in the front 1.75" in the rear. leveled the slight saggy butt out to a nice stance. It sits just right and the stock tires don't look too goofy. I now have 12" clearance to the ...

I will look this weekend, another forum also pointed out frostfighter.com which has a solution for everything defroster as well. I've been in a Home Depot home remedy frame of mind, it never occured to me that this was a common enough problem to have an actual commercial solution.

Defroster Fixup?

So my nifty new/old beater Subaru wagon has a minor issue I'd like to fix up before the cold weather returns and before I possibly tint the windows. The terminals where the defroster wiring plugs onto the window itself have both fallen off. They can't really be soldered back on the heat would likely...

Strut swap to lift

I just picked up a 90 Legacy wagon (BJ), which is desprately in need of new struts. It looks like many other year/model strut combos are easily swapable. I'd like to find a strut that will lift it maybe 1" to 1.5" I'll likely get a set of KYB GR-2's but if a particular forester or outback ...
