Dude, what the heck kind of sick, twisted, monster Subaru are you planning on building with all that stuff?

I'd just get cheap cable chains. I highly doubt that "real" chains would fit on a Subaru with stock size tires...probably would hit the struts.

1. Acceptable charging voltage is 13.5-14.5 with the engine running. If you're at idle with all the loads on, it's "okay" for the voltage to drop down around 13, but that's cutting it close. 2. There are several things that could cause this, and if you've got a decent hand-held voltmeter, ...

wires are the main thing that helps. He hit the nail on the head. The best thing you can do for your electrical system is to run all new power and ground cables that are substantially larger than the factory ones. It also makes a huge difference in voltage drop if you run a much larger wire from th...

Haha, I guess burning lots of oil is a relative term that changes quite a bit based on geography. I'm from a small town in SE Alaska, and most people here consider "serious oil burning" to be more than a quart per gas tank!

Have you tried replacing the PCV valve with an OEM one from Subaru? I have seen so many Subarus burn large amounts of oil because of a sticky PCV valve. The EA-series cars are a lot worse about this problem, but the EJ-series cars, despite vast improvements in PCV system design, are not immune to it...

First real snow here in Anchorage today! You would think that people in AK would know how to drive in snow, or would have vehicles capable of it, but there are an alarming number of people here that meet neither requirement. The first snow is always enterntaining, with tons of idiots wrecked and/or ...

If you're just doing the HG job, I've been told that's all you need. If I was doing it, I would do a complete reseal and T-belt change at the same time, since you have to take apart most of the same stuff. If you're trying to do it on the cheap, at least replace the cam seals and O-rings, as well as...

So I ended up installing an aftermarket tranny cooler and a new inline filter, and I'm going to change the fluid pretty soon (it's still in really good shape). Interestingly, I started out with the extra tranny cooler in series with the stock one, and was getting way too much cooling below 50 degree...

I don't mean this as showing off...I just decided to carry my HD electrical a step further, since I plan to take my car where it gets to 50 below during the winter. About a month ago, I redid all my battery and ground cables and installed dual batteries. I used two NAPA orbital 750-CCA batteries. Ea...

can I make the 4EAT "tougher"

I thought I would make my first thread on this board a practical one... Just got a 92 Legacy with 166k on it and it's got the 4EAT tranny. Before I bought the car, I had planned a 5MT swap, but after driving the car, I decided to keep the automatic (3500 RPM at 90mph is very nice). I'm not planning ...
