Its worth it if you've got ALOT of time to do research, the wirring was the hardest part for me. n2x4 has something similar to you i beleive, being that his OBD1 NA 5spd was converted to turbo. He has an Excelent chart of which wires should go where for the swap aswell of some pictures of the wiring...

good reference: http://wac.addr.com/auto/obs/turbo/ejcalcs.html
Im looking into doing the same head swap at some point.
With the thin SOHC gasket you could have 8.0 cr.
Has anybody tried this? How does it holdup under boost?

i recently picked up a full 92 legacy touring wagon with an ej22t for 500$. it was in driveable condition and made it 1000km before getting the engine pulled and dropped into my 97 leg wagon... the engine has 233 000km and still runs strong. You're going to need the whole car to get the wiring harne...

Well, my battery is dead this morning, hah figures. So im looking to wire my wastegate control, pressure exchange solenoid, IAC, ignitor and injectors either on a switch with a fuse, triggered by the ignition OR wire everything into the 97's original wiring and share some of the power sources with t...

Good to hear. Ill check those sensors for current draw asap, and definitely set them up with fuses. I think ill take the sending unit back out and just take the pump out and place it inside the sending unit that was in the car before. The sensors all over the place, it was reading empty after only b...

Good news! I got it running and brought it back to my place 300km away :-D I still have a few problems though, the main one confusing me is the fuel gauge... It was at a 1/4 tank when i started the swap, and once i swaped over the whole sending unit and pump from the turbo it read as empty. I filled...

unfortunately I don't have any diagrams for it. I just finished stripping down the wiring harness as you described and now I've got a few more questions. there's a yellow wire with a red tracer coming out of the wastegate control, pressure solenoid, 1 going to the injectors, 2 coming from a square p...

So i could wire the pin directly to the battery w/ a switch and apply power to the pin when i want the car to run? I know i should be snipping pin 18 and wiring 11 and 12 together on connector B36... i couldnt find where this connector plugged in. What does it do? Other than that im pretty sure all ...

wow thanks man! Im still reading through all of your information and looking at you youtube vids... cool stuff! Do you know which connectors can be safely cut out? I realize that's asking alot, hah. ok, so I got everything in and ready to go... mechanically anyways. I merged the wiring harness from the 92 turbo into the 97. the fuel pump does not start on its own and it turns over but does not fire, even with the fuel pump connected to the battery. this sucks, getting so close and not being abl...

You can use a wooden dowel as a clutch alignment tool to get it close. Yeah ill have to make something to line it up properly. I was using a socket and a drill bit but i guess it wasnt close enough. Maybe im not doing it properly, i always have trouble getting the motors in these cars to mate prope...

I didnt have enough time off to do the entire swap. Its at the point where im ready to bolt the engine onto the tranny but it wont slide in easily. Unfortunately i don't have an alignment tool to align the clutch so thats probably the problem. I noticed the 92 22t exhaust bolted on perfectly on the ...

Yup, i plan on using the stock EJ22T ecu w/ its wiring harness. The only things i can think of that i would like to tap into the NA's wiring harness is the fuel pump, tach, temp and fuel level gauges. the connector going to the NA ecu would be unplugged, obviously. Thanks for mentioning the B36 conn...

haha probably, thanks a lot man that's gonna make the wiring easy now! (I hope) I read on http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/swap/electrical.html#ecu that the AT/MT identifier pin needs to be cut, pin 20 on connector B48. Is it safe to leave that pin wired-in and see if it works? I didn't...

abest10, since ive got the entire ECU and wiring harness that came with the car im planning on using both of them. Ive got the wiring diagrams and pinouts for both ecus. So, ill run the 97 off of the 92 ecu. The only snag im having is for the cruise and speedo. I have no indication from the pinouts ...
