well, talked with a mechanic at Subaru yesterday. He chuckled at me for the $ I've spent so far and tells me it's my fuel pump. I'll be changing that this weekend.
Anyone done this before on a Legacy? Do i have to drop the tank or is it as easy as the Haynes says and just pop it out the top?

only code i have gotten out of it was the knock sensor and i know that couldn't cause all the probs i'm having. gone through all the wires and hoses to no avail. maybe jumped time? don't know how it could and still give me spark. maybe fuel pump...don't know, revs after its warm, just not in gear......

which do you mean by "pressure sensor"?

oh yeah, hosed it down with starting fluid as well and never got an RPM jump so dont figure for any vacuum leaks.

got a MAF out of a wreck. Cleaned it up good, put it in, no help. don't know where to go next.
could my new plugs gap be off enough to cause this or possibly a timing issue? checked the spark and got good spark all around. don't know what the heck...

still have the cats on the car, but didn't think that would happen overnight neither. I'm not hearing or seeing a vac leak. have checked all the hoses, wiring, etc. figure I'll knock it out one part at a time. Gonna try and pick up a MAF today. Can't give up on her, just ticked 150k, barely broke in.

changed the wires and hosed down the MAF with maf cleaner today. no change. when I first start it up, runs really crappy and can't touch the gas until it gets warmed up. then, i can give it gas in park and it will rev but still doggish, but put it in gear and no revving, it just wants to bog down. f...

I'll get some wires and cleaner in the morning... I appreciate the ideas from you both

last week. noticed a loss in power on the way home from work. next morning, no power.

exhaust don't smell like gas or coolant

new plugs, semi old wires

shuts down if maf unplugged

can anyone lllok at my question in the engine forum and offer any ideas?

just got a PCV today at autozone for $3.49

it chugs a little on idle but I've let it get to normal temp and nothing changes. Still no go.

just a bit more info...when I put it in gear, as long as I dont touch the gas it seems fine, as soo as I touch the gas, it wants to die. I feather it and can get a few more RPM's, but still not enough to move.

does this sound like it could be the MAF sensor or am I reaching?

I have a 1990 Legacy. It will run and rev (slight hesitations) in park, but when I put it in gear (auto-non turbo) it wants to die or just run super sluggish.
