I will agree with Josh, using anything other than a OEM t-stat will cause problems It has been tried many times with poor results. A colder engine also will not be lubricated as well and the colder temp will pull the timing back. Even with a FPR what happens is that the O2 sensor will quickly sense ...

I wouldn't say that the gear boxes are weak I think some of the failures that have occurred have been due to missed shifts etc. and some are due to added power. We have seen some gearbox failures with engines developing 350+hp and think what has happened is that the power applied to the spiral cut g...

Will do but it will take a while I first have to get the EJ25 aftermarket turbo cars that will want this done that we have out. The first one is a car that has lost three engines in as many years. Seems that nobody can resist turning up the boost on them with the usuall bad results. Also with a litt...

There are a few ECU's with different rev limits for some strange reason. I found one in a pile of ECU's that I was looking through to possibly buy. It is for a '98 EJ25 with a rev limit of 6700, just the thing to sell the Impreza crowd. This all started out trying to protect the EJ25 from blowing up...

It is the speed limiter that the Torque Chip removes but I am just finishing the assembly of a plug and play ECU that has the original ECU in a case with an additional board that removes the rev limiter, adds fuel in relation to boost, controls timing, torque chip, probably will end up controlling b...

I know I have had a few start to melt on me. We have a custom built multi channel unit with thermocouples. It looks like thermocouples are the way to go but they are more difficult to use and more expensive.

The VF 11 is most common on US legacys and I think the VF10 was used on both US and the EJ20t. There isn't very much difference in them.

There is no way that I am aware of. The MAF on the turbo Legacy is a sealed unit. I did take one apart that was defective on a long shot that it might be repairable and after removing the top found that it is built using surface mount technology that is buried in a silicon like substance. Also I thi...

Don't hook it to the red and white wires! you could very possibly damage an expensive MAF sensor. The red wire is power and the white is signal black and black/ blue are grounds of two different types and the blue is a ID wire. There is a internal intake air temp sensor but it is used in trying to d...

I wouldn't mind knowing the source on the intake temp sensor myself if it will withstand the higher temps that we have seen. One of the problems we have seen on the WRX and it's air to air is that after sitting at a stop intake temps can go to 350F+. I have a lot of info on our turbo's and we have s...

I think so pulling the dash and all of the heater, AC, and part of the wiring is a real nightmare it's all entangled with the frame behind the dash. We have one sitting around where they tried to change to a later model dash and it has been sitting for almost a year. What I did was make a small hole...

Our heads are not the greatest but I don't think that they are real bad. I am rebuilding some with mechanical adjustable roller rockers and hope to get past the point where the 15lbs of boost was holding the valves open at about 73-7400rpm.

The first problem with swapping the harness is that the harness on the turbo Legacy takes two routes back to the ECU that also is mounted in a different location. I pulled one of these one time and it was about three times as long as needed and had what the factory called a "super Monster Junct...

It can be done and it is not as hard as you would first think. The Turbo Legacy front crossmember must be used it will bolt right in. The exhaust is close to bolt in. I installed a '99 GT transmission but the turbo Legacy will bolt in and you will have to add a clutch master cyl and probably a pedal...

Sounds like you might be on to something I wonder if the engine could have moved enough for some part of the motor or the mounts to hit something? Water injection will keep the combustion chamber remarkably clean of carbon and other deposits. It will also lower the charge temperature through evaporation and a mist or spray is prefered. You should be sure to make sure that the system you make or buy has safeguards to prevent water from being du...
