Re: Somewhat confused!
I know the lsi and the mi models had them not sure if any other model had them. I think someone saw it in junk yard and thought it was cool and replaced it. That was my 1st thought when I was told it was NA and had an L on the tailgate, but the paint looks very original, and the grille is the same ...

Somewhat confused!
Is it possible to have an unaltered L wagon NA AWD with a turbo grille? Looked to be OE to me based on paint condition. I believe what I saw was a 93-94 based on the headlights. Cloth interior and an AT.

Re: Back with a recurring no-start
By the time I got there, the parking lights are on full time regardless of how the switch is set on the stalk. Well, palm on forehead. Forgot until I had a "Eureka!" moment that when the parking light switch on the top of the steering column is on, the parking lights will be on no matter ...

Back with a recurring no-start
Hey all, The MIL's 94 Legacy L wagon has been giving my sister-in-law no-start fits for over a year now. Parts have been thrown at it and each time it will go for awhile then will behave the same way again. This time, she was driving along, nice and slow and had gone a 1/2 mi past a stoplight and it...

Re: Brake lights - GOT NONE!!!
Is the car an automatic? If so, the brake light switch also opens the shift-lock. If the switch is bad you'd have to push the button on the console to shift out of P. I actually replaced an entire shift-lock assembly before without realizing the brake lights also didn't work. Had to press the butto...

OK, so I saw the switch on top of the hinge. How the flip do you get it off?

Re: Brake lights - GOT NONE!!!
ON the pedal? O just got out the flashlight & I didn't see anything attached from the pedal all the way up to the hinge. IIRC, there wasn't much above the hinge either. This car doesn't have the fuse box door anymore. Which fuse is the brake light? I eyeballed each one, but there is one in the c...

Re: Brake lights - GOT NONE!!!
If you were to search my old posts, you'd find I almost never had any problems w/my '93.
IOW, I have no idea where the brake switch is. All the fuses under the hood latch are OK.

Brake lights - GOT NONE!!!
Its been a veery long time since I've been here, but my login and password were still good, believe it or not. Unfortunately my 93 L Wagon is gone, but my MIL has a 94 L Wagon that my sister-in-law has on permanent loan. She is not hard on cars, but if something is going to break, she will be the on...

Neko, welcome aboard! There is so much info here, you will be amazed what you will learn - even if you don't do the work yourself. Anyway, The engine compartment looks really clean for being a 17 year old PA car. The nice thing about Subarus (for buyers, at least) is that they are very undervalued. ...

Unwarranted trust
OK, just finished, & its up & running. It seems to be running really well - over about 3 mi. & temp was fine & the heater core pushed out hot hot air. When I came back to burp it again, there was almost no air despite being on a good incline. So I am confident that it was just the pu...

Water Pump
OK, so I'm doing the water pump tomorrow (If the dealer is open for a new t-stat) The current mileage is 186K, the 1st 99K were all highway from the 1st owner. We use it mostly stoplight to stoplight, & it burns no oil, and all fluids remain at proper level, almost maintenance free. So question ...

Same as Above
OK, thanks Josh, for the verify on OEM T-Stat. I haven't changed out my cooling parts yet, but at 186K, I hope to get to 200K on the orig NA before I consider a turbo rebuild as a hobby car. Anyway, back to the issue. Had the same issue - no warm air from the vent and cool air from the fans as they ...

Why is a shoulder belt REALLY needed in the center backseat?
One reason is to prevent splitting an 8 yr old in half in a high-speed collision.
Second, I doubt most states allow children to ride without a shoulder belt, citing safety concerns & I concur.

About those Outback seats....
Doug, Since the 95-00 is about an inch wider, was there any kind of fuss with the fitment? Also, does the new back seat have a center shoulder belt, or just the lapbelt? I had an epiphany that if I can't retrofit a shoulder belt into the center position of my 93, I can't keep the car b/c I can't saf...

Wanna keep the '93 - how to improve?
Had my "L" 4AET since '99, & I am waiting for something to go out on it (182K on the clock now). I figure at that point, my wife gets my Accord EX, I drive the Ram & put this one in the OR for major heart surgury. Then it becomes MY car! This is a pretty basic L, just the option w/...
