WRX flywheel with stock clutch?

My engine is out of the car for repair. Flywheel is kinda 'usable' but in pretty bad shape (scorning etc) and not resurfaceable, clutch looks usable. So can I put used oem 02-05 WRX (anything else?) flywheel (that I could probably get very cheap) and keep the clutch I have?

So, about this EJ20g, is there a good thread that covers the basics? Is this a good idea if I am not going to be doing it myself? My mechanic is decent, and worked at subaru dealership for a long time, but I'm paying if something weird has to be diagnosed and fixed. Are there wiring issues besides i...

Ok, an some update. Mechanic called. Says the noise mostly from the back, it still runs, but dies once warmed up unless given gas. Oil pressure is borderline ok, but does not come up as quick when shut down and restarted. Some silvery metal shavings in oil. Compression readings low on #1 and #3 (wer...

Thanks guys. I don't have a place and time to work on it right now and already know a decent mechanic who knows the car. Had it pushed into my parking spot yesterday and will tow to a mechanic during the week. Looked at it in the daylight, no holes in the block yet :) So where does one get JDM engin...

Where are you located? And it doesnt sound good at all. Alt would notkill the car, nor wouldthe turbo, sounds like a spun bearing.:( I'm in Minneapolis. That's what I think too, but who knows, don't have any prior experience with spun bearings, so I have no idea if they develop this fast with no pr...

Needed cheap ideas/now need engine shopping advice

While taking my exit from the highway the car quickly developed some crackling/rattling/marbly sound coming from the engine. Related to rmps (or possibly to turbo rmps) and most pronounced while giving it gas. Was able to make it to the second traffic light and died there. With some effort and lots ...

That may be a little too tall. The stock WRX tires 205/55 r16 only have about 1/8" clearance on the rear struts. Well, on mine stock WRXs and remaining 3 RSIs clearance is about 1/4" but I guess that would heavily depend on the tire and luck. Found this though , which is 215/60-16 and is ...

205/60-16 fits?

Need 4 winter tires, gonna put those on wrx wheels, 205/60-16 has better/cheaper options, but not sure it fits and does not rub on suspension?
Remember some relevant thread but could not find it for some reason.

Coolant sensor, eh? Ok, I searched for it and came up with similar thread. So I guess you're right. Does it matter whether I go OEM or any local store brand would be fine?

Weird cold starting issue.

The car has problems starting when it has been sitting for a while, but not on the first try (starts right up with very few cranks), but on the second. Noticed recently, when I stalled the car getting out of snow I parked it in. It just keeps cranking and does not fire up. Couple of tries and some g...

Damn, dman. Yeah, I don't trust repair shops worth a lick. Even the dealers around me are like WTF when my car shows up. If it's not a WRX, STI, or Outback, most places seem to have never heard of our cars. I've had to do a lot of searching to find what the good parts are on this forum, but here's ...

Rant: this is why I don't trust repair shops...

So I though that my brakes felt weak, and the rear rotors stayed rusty even though I drove the car few hundred miles since I bought it. So I thought that calipers got stuck or smth. Wrong. Some repair shop, the previous owner went too (I'm pretty sure he couldn't have done it himself) decided that i...

So how noisy is this sunroof thing, how does it mount and does it help anything or pretty useless? Does it block rain at all? It's not loud at all. it mounts under the front lip of the roof where the sunroof is with two hooks. It blocks rain if your moving. I just don't dig the style. Does it make ...

I'm on 225/50-16s. Slightly taller than stock. You need wider wheels to use a tire that wide though. Using a 225 on a 6" rim is going to get you worse traction than something that fits right. Nope, 225/50 are approved on 6" rim. Traction wise I'd love smth like 215/50 but there are none. ...

Did anyone try 225/50 on stock 15" rims?

Need a tire for DD/local street tire index autox class. Gonna stay stock, and seems like my only decent options for 15" are 195/50 RE01R, 205/50 rt615 and 225/50 RS2. The latter seems very attractive for a heavy BC. Found only one reference in old threads, so I wonder if anyone else tried 225/50?
