Re: How do i remove the ignition switch?
you can also use a chisel and hammer to punch a slot into the bolt, then use a flathead screwdriver to back em out.

Re: wrx knuckles and hubs
thanks!
I'm still seeing conflicting information, but well over half of it says my car has a final drive of 3.90
I'll be twisting that driveshaft anyway. lol.

Re: bizzare ignition lock problem
I know now it's got something to do with the wiring. When the wiring was all tucked up where it should be i kept having this problem, now that it's all hanging freely i haven't had the issue since. It used to have an anti-theft thing in there, then removed, driven for awhile, then sat in a garage fo...

Re: How To: Center Diffs
Has anybody done it with usdm WRX stuff and failed? If you're trying to find someone who has done it, maybe look at newer cars that came with both phase 1&2 transmissions in the same body. Such as the 1st generation impreza, and the 2nd gen legacy. Even if you could rewire your whole car just t...

Re: Double checking WRX brake upgrade parts
The brakes are a priority right now, as mine are obviously way past due.
What other models shared the same caliper as found on a 02-07 WRX?
I've read the stickies, and either the info is not listed or i just didn't get it.
(i actually don't want the 4pots, too expensive/excessive for my goals)

Re: can you do a partial WRX drivetrain swap?
https://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/forums/technical-diy-write-ups-faq/184256-mpt-vtd-4eat-center-diff-conversion.html I was hoping i could do the above as a bandaid fix until i can get a proper swap going. Trying to get a center diff is a horrible PITA since places only let you buy the whole damn t...

Re: How To: Center Diffs
Short answer is no. Long answer is the 4eat doesn't have a center diff, it uses a clutch pack to transfer power from the front wheels to the rear. The clutches are controlled by the "Duty C" solenoid. Problems with the 4WD in a 4EAT are usually a result of this solenoid failing. If you se...

can you do a partial WRX drivetrain swap?
i got a 1992 Legacy L, AT I found a 02 WRX AT transmission for a great price, so now i'm wondering about the rest of the drive train. Can i swap in a whole WRX automatic trans and still use the 92 legacy TCU? If i get the wrx at, and the wrx rear diff, will i be able to use the 92 legacy drive shaft...

have a source for that?rallyak wrote:92 AT should be 3.90s unless it has been changed with 90-91 trans.
Everything i've read has the 4EAT as a 4.11 final drive.
Mine is an L by the way, not turbo.
(not trying to be a jerk, i'm just ready to buy parts and don't want to waste money)

Re: wrx knuckles and hubs
Curious about this too.
I'm fine with wrx knuckles with plain wrx brakes, but will the splines match any axle?
I have a 92 legacy AT with a 4.11 diff, which is standard, but
Would I need knuckles off an AT wrx or will one with a manual
trans work just the same?

bizzare ignition lock problem
I dunno what's going on. The key will not go in all the way, only half way in. Not enough to turn the key or defeat the steering wheel lock. The first time I fixed it by just violently turning the wheel back and forth against the stop and the key slipped in. It happened again today so I took most of...

Double checking WRX brake upgrade parts
Ok, i have a 93 Legacy L wagon. Front brakes: true or false....02 WRX calipers, brake pads, and rotors are straight bolt in. Rear brakes: more complicated. Lets say i have 02 WRX rear calipers, and i can get rear knuckles from another subaru, what knuckles can mount 02 WRX rear calipers and also be ...
