Re: Help! Gouged Right Side(passenger) Cam when I removed se

Here are the before pics. I'll get the afters when I get home from work. http://i.imgur.com/WxGcal.jpg http://i.imgur.com/fQZjWl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/M0P4Fl.jpg The white line I drew on the pics is the previous seal line. The gouge is the deepest in front of the line so I'm hoping that I dodged a ...

Re: Help! Gouged Right Side(passenger) Cam when I removed se

OK Everything is back together. I ended up sanding down the affected part of the cam shaft until it felt somewhat smooth. I've taken pics but can't seem to attach them to the post. Anyone know how? Let me know and I'll add the pics for your flaming pleasure! the pics look bad at first, then after sa...

Help! Gouged Right Side(passenger) Cam when I removed seal

I really screwed up guys... I gouged up the Cam shaft when I removed the seal tonight. I used the self tapping screw method and scraped the shaft in two places when I pulled the seal out using Channel Lock pliers. The two spots are right where the seal would be in contact while spinning so I can onl...

Re: KYB's installed today!!! Thanks for the help

Update: So I've driven about 4500 miles since I installed the 4 struts on my 94 wagon (5sp,FWD). The GR2's have really settled in now and I'm very happy with them. I ended up installing 4 GR2's on my wifes Legacy in March and 4 GR2's on my daughter's Outback in April. Just as I thought, the installs...

How long are clutches lasting? Suppose to last? Survey?

I know this depends a lot on driving style and over all I'd say I'm a pretty conservative driver but I bought my 94 Legacy Wagon FWD 9 years ago with 79000 miles and it now has 175500 on it with no hint of clutch issues. Is that normal? Could it possibly be the original clutch? I do not know any his...

Re: New half shaft replacement questions, DIY 94 Legacy wag

Better late then never! Well I replaced the drivers side half shaft and that didn't solve my clunking/clicking noise. Boy it sure sounded like the drivers side! I went underneath before I replaced it and tried to move each axle back to front and they both felt the same with no real excessive movment...

New half shaft replacement questions, DIY 94 Legacy wagon

For those of you who read my post on new GR2's last week you know that my drivers side Axle started making clicking/clunking noises when making right turns or accelerating hard right after I switched out the struts. So this Saturday I'll be putting in a new half shaft on the drivers side. I got if f...

Re: KYB's installed today!!! Thanks for the help 100 mi up

After 100 miles on the new KYB GR2's I can certainly tell there are new shocks on the car. they seem to be a lot stiffer then the stock struts, but of course those had 175000 mi on them! Maybe the new ones aren't broken in yet but they aren't providing the smooth ride I was hoping for. Will they loo...

Re: KYB's installed today!!! Thanks for the help

Hi Josh, I didn't check very well while I had the car up, my bad. They very well could be as they've been on the car about 40,000 miles already. Cheapo rebuilt's is my guess. But after my strut install today the clicking on acceleration and turns is easily 20-30 times worse. (in other words, a lot!)...

KYB's installed today!!! Thanks for the help

I installed my new shocks today! The installation went as well as expected being that it was the first time I had done a strut install. It took me about 5-6 hours to do all four corners. I made a few mistakes along the way that took up extra time but all in all it went really well. BTW, I have a 94 ...

I wanted to update everybody on this issue. I never did get around to checking what might be causing the engine to die like it was doing after I changed out the plugs but lo and behold over the past few weeks the problem has corrected itself slowly but surely. I've only had to restart it once in the...

engine stalling after spark plug change

Long time lurker, first time poster. 94 wagon w/ 167,000 miles, no mods, running well (at least it wasn't stalling) before I changed the spark plugs(NGK) this weekend. Now it stalls when clutch is disengaged until the engine warms up after about 4-6 miles. After that distance it runs just fine. Agai...
