Any tips on pulling an engine wiring harness for transplant?
I just bought a 93 Legacy sedan NA for the sake of pulling the engine and harness and putting it in either an XT or a VW bug or Type III. Any tips on removal and eliminating what won't be needed? Access is of course no issue because everything will be out of the way. Any thoughts appreciated. Steve

Re: Airbag issues
I'm not sure why, but the 'south' end of the clock spring cable wasn't connected. I didn't disconnect it and I don't know why anyone would. But what I do know is that the light is GONE.
What a relief

Airbag issues
Need help. I can't find any information anywhere on this, even from the dealers. This is for a 96 Legacy(NOT OUTBACK). The 95 and 96 legacies are different from all others. I bought my car with the airbag light on and the PO told me it was hit in the front, which I could guess by the Outback fronten...

N/A frankenmotor question
When doing the N/A EJ25 block/EJ22 heads frankenmotor, can you use the Phase 2 block??...say from a 2001???
It's for my 91 wagon. I made one b4 with with a phase 1 block, just wondering if 2 works.

Re: 2.5D swap or Franken motor
Just a note about fuel economy. My frankenmotor got me about 2 more miles per gallon than the stock EJ22E. I tried the motor in both my cars at the time. My 94 sedan 4eat was about 1.5 mpg increase and the and 92 wagon 5spd was about 2.5). The low end torque was so solid, I could slip the clutch at ...

Re: Suspension rattle driving me nuts
I put some of that disc brake quiet stuff on the front brakes. Which is basically silicone caulking the pads to the caliper and piston. And that took care the noise. The clips were missing in the front. Now it sounds and feels as a car with 212K on the suspension should. :? Oh well, but no more ratt...

I may have found it. I can wiggle my outer brake pad on that side with the tip of my finger. I will work on that and see. Thx Jamal.

Re: Suspension rattle driving me nuts
I should have mentioned that this is my 91 Wagon.
The nut is tight and no to spherical bearings. I'm thinking maybe the shaft of the strut.

Suspension rattle driving me nuts
Hey, I'm having a heck of a time locating a suspension rattle and I wanted to see if you guys had any ideas. On rough pavement it gives a vibration like a worn swaybar bushing with some metal to metal. Its NOT a clunk on speedbumps(that was the ball joint and tie rod). It is slowly getting worse. So...

Re: Spring options for a 96 L Sedan?
I have a 91 Wagon that I will be putting these 02-03 WRX springs on. QUESTION: Can I put 96 struts on my 91? I'll be using the WRX springs and top hats. I don't see what the difference is, other than the bottom spring perch welded a little higher. But arent' the newer 91 struts done the same anyway ...

Re: Spring options for a 96 L Sedan?
Def not tapered springs in back. The struts are Subaru OEM, but I can't read the entire part #. This setup appears to be the same as when I did my 92. In this 96, the core support on this car was replaced, everything IN FRONT of the strut towers. So maybe they are original.

Re: Spring options for a 96 L Sedan?
You know, my car sits kinda low like maybe 3/4" or so. Even with the 17s on it, it looks like its lowered a little.. Maybe it has 90/91 struts. I wonder if the rears are tapered? I'll check in the am.

Re: Spring options for a 96 L Sedan?
You sure you have the right springs in the front? From what I understand, the fronts are all the same diameter. Its the rears that vary from year to year. But they're all fit-able with the right top hats. That's what I was thinking too. I know this car was completely rebuilt using an Outback. But t...

Re: Spring options for a 96 L Sedan?
Uh-oh, looks like I will indeed need some top hats and rubbers. 02-03 WRX springs were too small for the top fronts. Haven't tried the rears yet. I'll probably end up putting these on my 91 anyway.

Re: input on my 2.2 N/A custom exhaust idea
That Raptor muffler is the worst POS I have ever used...and I've used plenty. Since it doesn't muffle the sound at all, you'd be better served by a straight pipe. If you want a good, low-priced muffler than you should consider the Dynomax turbo muffler. Its only around $40 to $50 and is WAYYYYY bett...

Re: 4eat AWD question
How have you verified the lack of power to the rear? Could it be possible for the Duty C to be physically stuck in the open position without actually being broken? It seems to me that in that case it would not throw a code and yet still not be working. You nailed it in your first response. ECU read...

Re: 4eat AWD question
Today was a good day. :D It must have been duty Solenoid C because it is back in AWD now. It rained all evening and I couldn't break the front tires once, even a little bit. I actually briefly spun the inside rear tire taking off on a turn in gravel so everything is looking good now. A big thanks to...

Re: 94 wagon n/a ej253 swap
Seems like it would be MUCH easier just to swap the 2.5 block in between the 2.2 heads and call it a day. Of course, that does produce a different animal and maybe you prefer spots to stripes...or vice versa.

Re: 4eat AWD question
Well, I got the duty solenoid C and MPT hub replaced and got everything back together, put ATF in it and then found the thin bearing washer that goes between the hub and clutchpack laying on the ground. DTOH! It took me an hour and 40 mins start to finish. So I went back and redid basically everythi...

Re: 4eat AWD question
That's a very odd problem then. The most likely thing I can think of is still the Duty C, so I think you're on the right track. ;) Make sure you check back in here if it's fixed after you replace it, I'm very interested in the resolution! Glad to help. I know sometimes having more than one brain wo...
