Apexi translation?

We picked up an Apexi FC for my sons Legacy with the JDM GC8 swap. The manual is in Japanese. Does anyone know where to get an english version, or get it translated?

92 leggy with JDM GC8. Need downpipe?

What is the difference in downpipes from year to year on EJ20. I see a lot of diff pipes listed, but no real info on what fits what.
Thanks

Parts here, block bored.

Finally got the block back from being bored. 375 for the bore and clean. Had them do the ring end gap while it was there. New Wiseco pistons, Manley H-beam rods ACL bearings, ceramic clutch. Now just get this back together so I can have my garage space back. I will get some pics when the work actual...

Re: New work car.

It's been a week now. Great car. I changed out the plugs, that were the original ones after 146k. The electrodes for two of them were burnt down past the porcelain. Now my wife wants the black one cuz it looks cooler than her blue one.

Re: Piston question GC8 rebuild. Pics of failure too.

New Wiseco pistons, Manley rods, bearings and a new stage 3 clutch on the way. Will try to remember to take some pics along the way. Need to find a shop to get the cylinders bored. I have a speed shop close by that says 300 or so to bore. Anyone know of some where else in the Minnesota Twin Cities a...

I learned my lesson years ago with Cometic gaskets and Harley's. I will never use their stuff. The best head gaskets are OEM.

New work car.

I just picked up this 2007 Legacy. 145k and the price a whopping 5995. Has new tires, brake calipers all around, and rotors and pads. Interior is clean. The only dislike is the air bag light comes on about half the time. Sorry for the crappy phone pics. http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq54/wurken...

Yes it did. Seemed smooth before the install. I think the damage was done prior to me getting the engine. The warranty is void because I did not have the engine installed by a certified tech.

Piston question GC8 rebuild. Pics of failure too.

The GC8 JDM engine we just put in my son's car turned out to be junk. After 1 week of run time and of course countless hours wiring and fitting engine to start with, the number 4 cylinder went dead. There was always a sort of an irregular miss or hesitation. We replaced coils and sensors and a multi...

Re: Dead Engine

The twin turbo will be tight around the steering box etc. You will need a turbo cross member or notch your existing one. The wiring , If you have never done it before will make you want to repeatedly strike your head against a hard solid object. I just did this on my sons 92 Legacy, with a 94 JDM GC...

Re: Another GC8 engine swap Q.

Thanks for everyone's help. It ended up being the COP system. All the coils were cracked. We got some at the bone yard off of an SVX. The engine only had 15K on it and all the coils were like new. I bought all six. Now it boosts and runs like a scalded dog. Still does not want to idle when cold, but...

Re: Another GC8 engine swap Q.

The car the engine is in was a NON turbo model. I do not have either of these sensors. I need to go top the bone yard and see if I can find some, but I do not know what I'm looking for. Can someone post a pic or at least tell me where and what to look for.
Thanks

Re: Another GC8 engine swap Q.

Yes we have a boost gauge installed. The boost only goes to about 8-9. I will double check the plug gap. Any guess about the 2 codes?
Thanks

Another GC8 engine swap Q.

We got the car going after the JDM EJ20 engine swap into the 92 Legacy. It pulls like a raped ape. Having a couple of issues still. It is throwing 2 CEL codes. 1 Atmospheric sensor, and 2 Waste gate control. When accelerating hard and the foot is pinned to the floor, every once in a while it stumble...

Great success. It runs.

I am happy to report the beast lives!! Hard to believe it would make a difference if you have the crank and cam sensor wires crossed (sarcasm here). Might still be a couple of small issues to sort out. We need to get an exhaust temp sensor yet, and maybe a check valve for the brake booster line. We ...

Legacy777 wrote:Did you provide a ground to the igniter?
Yes we used the stock ground from the wiring harness. We just ran the two extra wires from the ECU terminals to the igniter for coil 3 and 4. I don't work tomorrow, so I am going to go out and methodically check all the wires and connections again.

Re: New guy needs help with engine swap wiring.

That's interesting that the SVX igniter didn't work. Are you sure you wired it correctly? I sure thought I did. Probably need to go back and double check some wiring. Where can I get a set of plug wires that will fit somewhere besides on top of the intake. The JDM intake runners are higher than the...

Re: New guy needs help with engine swap wiring.

The code on the engine is just EJ20. JDM engine. I put the JDM ecu in the car and ran the two extra wires off the stock harness for the added coil outs to the igniter. The GC8 turbo engine is replacing an EJ22 USDM engine non turbo. I did not have the correct igniter for the 4 cyl coil on plug syste...

New guy needs help with engine swap wiring.

Hi, I’m Terry, and I’m new here. I am looking for some guidance. My son and I dropped a 1994 JDM GC8 engine in his 1992 Legacy. I am 99% sure that the wiring is correct. Spent a lot of time tracking wires. I know more about ECU’s than I ever cared to. We are using the coil on plug packs that came wi...
