The car is in San Diego... Someone snaked it from under me. Bastard! I made plans to take the day off tomorrow and the guy who owned just called me and said someone just came up late in the afternoon and bought it. Just like that. F@#%* Then he said "ooopppsss I'm sorry." I said that he kn...

turbo legacy
He wants $2500-$3000 for it. Overall the car is good condition. The body is straight and no damage. The previous owner put a WRX hood scoop on it and it's so so. The interior is good except for the steering wheel that was taken apart and no airbags. The mileage before the rebuild was 96k. The car wa...

Should I buy it? help???
Guys, I found a 93 legacy turbo for sale, but the guy who owns it says that the motor was rebuilt after the previous owner tried to intercool it and blew gasket or seal. So, the engine has been rebuilt and returned to factory non-intercooled specs. Should I even consider making this purchase? I've r...

Confirmed!!!
CCR Engines just called me to confirm that the ECU will tell you what MY legacy turbo it came out of.
Dead cars do tell tales. Damn. There is hope because if you find a 93 ECU you're good to go regardless of the engine year, 91-94, it will still work.

Verify this VIN?
Okay, I got a guy who says that has a 1993 EJ22T. This is the VIN # that he gave me. Can anyone confirm that this indeed from a 93 legacy turbo? JF1BC673PG605090 He says that the shell is gone, and he got the VIN from the dash because his own son was going to use the motor for a swap. The son decide...

getting info tomorrow
I'm going to call CCR Engines tomorrow. They said they'd find out some details in regards to this ECU coding/data that the BAR referee was talking about. This is what I found out so far, kind recapping... 1. The BAR doesn't know what year your engine is unless you supply them with a document stating...

Thanks THAWA,
Sounds good...I'll have to think about this option. It sounds like a good deal though.

Great infoTHAWA, but why doesn't this place have a phone #.
I think Rancho Cordova is up north. I'd have to drive there and actually take it apart myself.

???
I don't think it can. Some other people told me it can't I asked CCR Engines, but they're not sure. I asked another engine supplier and he says all the ECU will say is that it's a 2.2 turbo.
So, can OBD I ECU tell what year? I don't think the BAR ref is accurate on this fact.

I thought I was home free... Then I asked about the ECU. "When you check the ECU will it give you a code stating that it's the engine was a 91?" The answer is YES. The EPA has different information on different model years and the data is stored in the ECU. So you can get away saying that ...

legal?
Hey Matt,
Someone on another forum said that I would have to have the Vin# that the motor came from?
What if they don't have this # anymore?

Wouldn't waste the time in putting it in the Impreza? And you're telling me I should instead waste time in looking for a 93-94 turbo legacy shell? That doesn't make anysense? This was my question: I mean if I get an engine and not know what year car it came from and do not have a VIN # could they tr...

ej22t swap making it legal
Hey guys, I'm in California. After reading what everyone in here has to say about the merits of the ej22t, I've decided that it's the engine that I want in my 93 Impreza. The problem is finding the engine that is the same year or newer than my car. I guess the law says the engine you are swapping in...

A good place to buy?
Okay then...
Can people reputable places to buy used engines? Who have you dealt with?
With only 688 of turbo legacies in this country, how many used engines are out there?
This makes me think about forgetting the entire ej22t swap and just go for an STi EJ20 ver 1-4.

Help? I found a company dealing with Subaru engines. I asked for any ej22t. The guy said "yup we've got two of them. One 34k and 38K on it. He said they import them from Japan? What??? I thought this engines are USDM only? I think he was confused. Any knowledgeable person please let me know. He...
