Re: What's this in my tranny pan?

Here's a link to the discussion thread over on USMB.

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/top ... ranny-pan/

The consensus was that I *could* run it that way, but it's fairly easy to replace so it would definitely be better to do so.

Re: What's this in my tranny pan?

For those of you following this thread a couple of members over on USMB identified it as the plastic thrust washer for the reverse drum.

Re: '92 Legacy SS EJ22t Auto-- no 4th gear?

I've replaced the VSS with one that tests good and I still don't have 4th gear. It's not throwing any codes now. Someone suggested it might be the TPS-- I guess I'll try that since it's pretty easy.

It's flexible to a point, then it snaps.

What's this in my tranny pan?

It's half price weekend at the you-pull yard near me. I scouted out a '92 Legacy SS with a used tranny I wanted. Car was bashed in on the side which is probably why it was there. Fluid was nice & red. Inside the car I found a receipt for labor to replace a transmission, and the tranny itself had...

Turbo auto Trans. vs. N/A auto trans.

The trans. in my '92 SS seems to be going out. I don't have the time or inclination right now to put in a 5 speed, but I have a chance to get a low-mileage tranny out of a non-turbo '92 Legacy. Does anyone know how the gearing is different and how it will affect the way it drives? I believe the fina...

Re: '92 Legacy SS EJ22t Auto-- no 4th gear?

It was the internal filter inside the pan that I changed... it was clogged with gunk severely restricting the flow and causing the trans. to slip (and that may be my answer right there as to why there's no 4th gear). The POWER light doesn't flash-- I haven't checked to see if there are any stored co...

'92 Legacy SS EJ22t Auto-- no 4th gear?

'92 Legacy SS EJ22t Auto. About 138k miles. Seems to shift through the lower gears OK, but never goes into 4th. I *think* I can feel the TC lock up in 3rd as the RPMS drop slightly sometimes, but not enough to indicate it's going into 4th gear. At 70 mph it's up over 4000 rpms and if I move the shif...

Re: Part # help please: Pass. Side head rear camshaft cover

Thanks mike-tracy... I took mine off and looked at it again. It was leaking like crazy after I re-sealed it and I had heard some pops when I tightened it so I assumed it had cracked. It's not cracked, it just didn't seat properly. There's some scoring on the inside surfaces where it mates with the h...

Part # help please: Pass. Side head rear camshaft cover

Can someone tell me what the part number for the EJ22T passenger side head rear camshaft cover is? it's the part that has the turbo return connections for the coolant and oil and is held on to the back of the head with 4 bolts. My Subaru parts guy can't find it on the diagram. (I think I overtighten...

Replcaing Tires: All or one at a time?

I recently got a '92 Legacy SS 4wd Automatic 4wd that needs tires. Having owned later model Legacys '96, '97, '98 04, I'm aware of the recommendation to replace all tires at once and ensure that the diameter is within 1/4", or whatever the manual says, for the longevity of the 4EAT auto transmi...
