Impressive.
But there is some sound deadening in the rear that I see you could get out of there really easy
. Do you plan on keeping all the door cards in place? And I spy stock sway bar endlinks... And it looks like Patrick is not only a great driver, but does good work, too.

I would love a cage... Hmmm... What did something like that cost you?

Love the cage! Those skid plates are beefy as all hell. It looks really tight.
William- He did say stage 1 of 3 were complete. I would imagine that the links and Dynomat crap will be addressed soon.

greg donovan: It's a brantz laser 3. The rock guards on the bolts are actually custom machined metal cones that fit into the skidplate. Very fancy.
Brat4by4: The rear links are actually whiteline droplinks
The door panels keep the noise down a bit, and look a lot better considering I don't have any fancy metal panels to cover the doors.
BAC5.2: It's stock man
As for the 800-1500 figure, good luck. It's true that you can certainly get a cage built (or make it yourself) for that kind of money, getting it overbuilt like this with extra chassis points, many extra bars, and quailty tubing isn't cheap.
And no, this isn't a kit. Patrick Richard (www.patrickrichard.com) and his prep shop make it from scratch inside the car.
I'll take another couple pics showing the roof setup, it's prbably the most impressive part of the whole cage.

that was just a guess, as a full FIA kit for an impreza is 1400 from Primitive Racing. from the pics you showed it is hard to see much extra bracing. and i was assuming it was a kit and done yourself. but if you had Pat Richard's shop do it then i'm sure it is very safe and cost quite bit more than that.aspect wrote:As for the 800-1500 figure, good luck. what type of tubing did you use?
chrome-moly? if so then all the joints had to be stress relieved then so i can see where alot more of the cost would come from.
show us some more pics of the car and maybe some nice shots of scenic Victoria while you are at it too.
that is one of the most beatifull cities i have been to in quite a while.

i was wrong about the cage prices but i do know my rally tires.THAWA wrote:that's awesome. What tires are those?
they are silverstones. and they look like they are the Rally S-525. they are a good inixpensive alternative to the yokohama advans or the pirelli KMs.
you can get them new from here:

not sure about the wheels though. but i like the way they look.

wow, beautiful prep work on the car... i'm hopfully going to be getting a similar cage done very soon
I noticed you've got the co-drivers seat pushed back pretty far, which I really need to do (big co-driver)... seems like you aren't using the stock seat mounting points at all... does the cage have bars going across the floor pan to mount the seats or is there something else done that I can't see? info and possibly pics would be greatly appreciated!

Nice guess, you are correct. Add $8 worth of spray paintstipro wrote:I think those are 15" wheels off of a MY99 Impreza TS Sedan
Right about the silverstones as well. Good tires for the price! These ones are totally beat though...I just ride around on them on the street now.
The seat mounts consist of two bars welded across between the transmission tunnel and the side of the floorpan, I can post some pics of that later today as I have to pop one of the seats out.

for the sunroof you have a couple options.
you can weld a pane of sheet metal in place but it will probably warp.
you can rivet a piece of diamond plate in. looks kind of cool.
or you could strip the whole roofskin off and weld a non sunroof skin on. this will look the best but will be the hardest. it will also make istallation of the cage easier while the roofskin is off.
if you go to vermont sports cars web site it has some awesome build up articles w/alot of pics.
