Modding my 92 legacy sedan
im looking for a good ,cost effective mod to wake up my legacy.
1992 ej22t with stock transmission, k&n intake, and magnaflow 2.25" exhaust with one cat removed.
It has the stock turbo on it, is there anyw ay to make more boost off of the stock turbo?
Also, my car tops out at 180 km/h there must be somethign wrong there??
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks

well actually i have a stock intercooler on it...im not sure if it is air to air or other.
And by installing an FCD how much power could i expect?
And also the manual boost controller...how high of a PSI can i safely run?
does anyone know who makes a cold air for a 92 legacy?

You must not be in the US or Canadia. The FCD will let you run past stock fuel cut off at like 12-13psi. 12psi is about the limit you want to run. I think the VF-11's effecnentcy range is about 12psi as I recall. If I were you. Just get a bigger turbo.92BlackBeauty wrote:well actually i have a stock intercooler on it...im not sure if it is air to air or other.

My oppinion is to free up the breathing to make what you already have more efficient. you can use wrx piping; up pipe, down pipe, the only mod would be to lengthen the exhaust by about 2in, and get new hangers but thaats only like 50 bucks at a exhaust shop. this allows your turbo to be more efficient, its not cheap but the gains are substansal.
looking for a 93-01 impreza shell!!! pm me
Don't use the WRX up-pipe. The WRX one has a cat in in, where our Legacy ones do not. Other then that, you have the idea.simonasaur wrote:My oppinion is to free up the breathing to make what you already have more efficient. you can use wrx piping; up pipe, down pipe, the only mod would be to lengthen the exhaust by about 2in, and get new hangers but thaats only like 50 bucks at a exhaust shop. this allows your turbo to be more efficient, its not cheap but the gains are substansal.

Yeah, even N/A US cars go faster than 180 km/hr (much). You must have the same speed limiter as the Japanese market cars.

No acutally I am in Canada, and my car still only runs 180km/h.
If it turns out that it is an import from japan, which i highly doubt(it's left hand drive and has american specs) how can i get rid of the limiter?
So you all seem to be saying that an FCD and the manual boost controller will not be much of a noticeable gain?
And also, just how much of a gain will i receive from running wrx piping all around?
Thanks

Toying with boost is up to you. Set it at whatever you want and test the waters on what feels the best. As for the piping on the exhaust. DO NOT GET THE WRX UP-PIPE, it's way more restrictive then ours. Get a 3in downpipe and 3in piping to the muffler. You'll see a little improvement there.

There is PLENTY of information on here to search for.
It all boils down to how fast can you AFFORD to be. That's where I'm at now. To get any noticeably faster, It's gonna cost me a full testicle in power mods, and supporting mods.
If you have an EJ22T, then there was never a stock intercooler.
